Unless vinny is going the other way for him no deal - jmdodgeser4
Supposedly stars may be interested now? And Preds are open to move their 11th overall. I wouldn't mind sending our first round pick VL and eat half salary for that pick. May be far fetched tho |

And I mean vinny as the center piece. No b schenn. Maybe vinny and our 1st or Laughton. Or some combo. - jmdodgeser4
Id hate to see Laughton go but for top pairing defense and an opportunity to shed VL salary seems like nice deal. The impact with Dion for us could be great. |

Probobly B.Schenn would be the center piece. Then add in your first round pick. Then some other small pieces added going both ways.
I do like Schenn but what is his realistic ceiling? A 2nd line center? - JVR_42_PK81
Lmao! B Schenn, a first, + for Phanuef +???? You guys need to take off the homer goggles. Unless this is sarcasm, then it's funny "haha" instead of funny "delusional". Phanuefs contract is terrible for what he brings. He's the #1 D on a brutal defensive team. |

Well I know two of the rumours are wrong:
1) no one wants to go back to buffalo
2) if trotz wants a strong d, phaneuf will not help that |

I would say it's a brutal defensive team because there's not much depth behind him. Be eats a ton of minutes and goes against the top lines. He plays the PP and Powerplay. His contract may suck, but people shouldn't under estimate his value and skill. Especially his value to Toronto's defense. |

Lol why would Philly want to get spanked in another trade? Plus that Schenn/Dion beef.
Dion is going to Edmontom for their 3rd rounder straight up and then #tanknation begins. Thank You Shanny. - LeafsOneBillion

Exactly. The leafs won't do a deal unless Schenn comes to us. Lecavier dosnt have much value. |

Bad contracts often get confused with being a bad player.
Dions contract may not be pretty (although he'd prob get similar in free agency) but that doesnt mean he's not still a top pairing, minute eater.
And totally agree on value to one team being different than another |

Who knows if he does or does not. JJ in the hawks blog says its a "very real thing"
Time will tell. I wouldn't blame him for staying in Chicago either. |

I have never heard if a no trade list having an expiry on it. - sparky
Well if a NTC can take effect at a specific year, there is no reason to believe it can end by a specific time. For example L.Schenn on Philly has a modified NTC that starts in 15-16. Cap geek shows Spezza has a Modified NTC (10 team no trade list) that goes through 2011-12 to 2014-15

I have no problem moving a 3rd round pick for Dion.Either that was a type-o, a joke, or his truly handicapped. |

Yeah but his contract is too long and too high. When people expect to trade that declining asset for rising philly assets and first rounders it's just crazy. Philly would be sending at least 4-5 mill back that they don't want, which Toronto won't do either.
If you realistically looked at getting Schenn from Philly and had to include Phanuef it's more likely Phanuef (with 1-1.5 mill salary being paid every year by TO, and maybe retain that cap hit too), Torontos first, and a decent prospect. There's no incentive for Philly to add a bunch to their side as they are the ones taking all the risk by acquiring a over rated and over paid D man for almost a decade. |

Exactly. I'm sick of people discrediting Dion. I'm not even a leafs fan but I can recognize his skill and talent and that he's a top pairing d man that can impact a team immediately |

He is a 2/3 dman if that makes any sense. He's not pk,doughty , weber , shantenkirk . So he's under them but paid at a 1 dman. That's a bad contract. Vinny is a decent 2 or maybe 3 center who can still play. But needs to be in the center position and not moved all over. Is it a bad contract? Not in dollars but maybe years. Look around at other centers. Bolland wants 5 a year of more ! Are u kidding me! Available center spezza is what 7 m? Thornton ? There's def value to vinny but the years is the sticking point. Both players serve purposes to both teams and thats where the deal should start. We would need to sweaten the deal a bit but not much. No other roster players should be included. Just my opinion |

Thankyou. It's not Dion's fault the team has no body on D who help him. The leaf fans who want Dion traded will be sorry when they see how bad our D becomes without him in the lineup. |
