Don't know about every measurable stat. Petry played more minutes, against tougher comp, with more severe zone starts, and had a positive relative numbers to his team.

Petry's advanced stats weren't bad. I get it. I'm not debating them on this board anymore, as they've been beaten to death since the season ended in various other debates.

My ENTIRE POINT was if you stick Petry on the Red Wings, he's filling the same exact role Quincey did and probably finishes with similar statistics. That's it. We can sit here and compare stats all day and debate "whose better".

The reality is on a contending team, both of these guys are consistently on the 2nd pairing or anchoring the 3rd pairing. Period.

if we're pulling the 'why would he sign in EDM?' card, then that should be used on all of these FAs rendering this whole conversation pointless

regardless of what role u think petry would play in (I absolutely disagree 3rd pairing on ANY team really)
but he'd be better at the same role. hence the whole better player than quince. and not as u said; "essentially the same"

I've reported on here what the GM said directly from his mouth. The most plugged in guys from Edmonton confirmed it. If you aren't convinced the Oil like Draisaitl then fine, but Matheson isn't making sh%t up. He heard it from someone he trusts.

Being that the draft is in Philly- many speculate Hextall makes a big splash... but it will come at a cost- that I am not sure will prove equal for some time...
