Yak showed he has lots potential in the NHL during his first year. Why is it wrong to not write him off because of one bad year on and off the ice. Give him a proper second line centre then we will be able to judge him for what he's truly worth. He could develop into a 30-40 goal scorer easily.
Hopefully he does get a playmaking centre to play alongside and Eakins/MacT sort out all the issues with his stupid agent.

He's more useful than a heavyweight facepuncher but nothing special either.

I didn't mean to overstate it. dude's extremely limited in what he can do. ( I actually didn't think i overstated it at all) but either way, hes an energy guy who loves running dudes and can eat some minutes along the boards.

I was going to post these exact players for a potential Oiler/Bruins trade

I would deal both for a mid-level prospect and a 3rd. The Bruins desperately need cap relief and both those players become expendable with the emergence of younger players.

Kelly would be a great addition to the Oilers, he's a 3 zone center who can play heavy PK minutes. McQuaid could be a solid 5/6 defender who can hit.

He's very much in the shawn thorton mold very useful fourth liner who if need can move up to the third for a quick fix.

I think he plays around 17 min a night in Boston. If we can squeeze 18 out of him and have him bring that rugged style then he and Kelly would definitely be worth that package

Personally I think Yak has a great amount of potential to be a scoring star in the NHL. All he needs is to paired with the right people. I wouldn't want Kane with all his baggage and large salary.

Meszaros would likely come cheap. You'd be best served signing him cheap to a 1 year "prove yourself" deal, rotating him through the bottom pairing until he shows some consistency.

I've said it before, I'll say it again: if the Oilers aren't signing Matt Niskanen, theres 3 guys in FA who can eat some serious minutes and help this team.

That wouldn't be terrible. I think Meszaros should be able to handle 20 minutes as well. Macquaid likely not. Ultimately it would be an upgrade on last year, not as big as we need but maybe as good as we can get

If MR is to be traded it's to DUMP salary I highly doubt it's for a guy making 4.4mil in gagner. So I'm pretty sure that's a name you definitely throw out the window
