First, let me say that I am NOT picking on you, starting with you, etc., but I think we are throwing this word "generational" around a bit too loosely lately.

Generational Talent - a player for the ages, one who can do things with a puck that no other player would even contemplate doing. Very, very few players will be deserving of this rating, probably one per decade.

Is Stamkos one? Probably not.

Malkin? Probably not.

Kane? No.

Tavares? Nil (for all of us Futbol fans enjoying this World Cup immensely!).

Show me an Orr, Gretzky, Crosby, etc. and then we'll talk.

- grand-magus

You forgot Lemieux , maybe Lindros if not for the concussion issues.

Ithink he is talking about skaters.

Goaltenders might look like , Turk Broda , Jacques Plante , Tretiak , Terry Sawchuck , Ken Dryden ,Dominic Hasek , Patrick Roy. Martin Brodeur

No offense taken. I just feel when all is said and done Stamkos will be one of the best to ever lace them up. He has the stats to prove it in an otherwise downward trending scoring league.

Per Ek, for what its worth

On Matt Moulson...

Really looks like he will return to Buffalo. Winnipeg has interest as well, but I keep hearing he wants to go back to Buffalo.

I hope that's not the case, not because I'm against bringing Moulson back, but because the Sabres have no business taking on any more contracts longer than 3 years. In fact, 3 years still might be too long.

The Ottawa Senators forward Spezza refuses to accept a trade to any of the other six Canadian teams, as well as Nashville, Columbus, Florida and the Islanders, according to TSN's Darren Dreger.

Can I ask why is 3 years the limit? Moulson in 4 years is still going to be scoring goals.

If you need 2 extra years to fill a goal scoring winger need then you do so.

You can just not sign anyone. You need people here that are going to help this team get over the hump, not just kids coming in.

Moulson isn't taking a 3 year deal. Neither will any of the top forwards. Which is why I'll be pretty annoyed when he gets his 5-6 year 6 mil per year deal here.

3 years is when you want to have cap space to make the move to go from pretender to contender. No need to saddle yourself with high cap 4+ year contracts now.

Based on the definition you gave above, I would have to argue that Kane fits it. Now, I'm not actually calling him a generational talent. Is he really freaking good? Yes. Generational? Probably what would be a notch below.

However, the things he does with the puck on the ice is just sick. Most other players would never think to attempt a lot of the stuff he does out there. So by your definition above, he would fit.
