I get that. I think the outrage would be to actually move one of those three to sign him. I am ok if it is something small or a PTO but not moving voracek, simmonds, coburn JUST to make room for Downie

I can imagine the proposed deals.

"We'll give them Smid because they need help on defense and they'll give us Simmonds in order to clear some cap space."

- PhillySportsGuy

Might as well just offer us the rights to retired Ryan Smith as well so we throw in Coburn

•David Staples of the Edmonton Journal: Due to the Flyers cap situation, they may look at moving some players to be able to re-sign Brayden Schenn and possibly Steve Downie. Some trade options could be: Jakub Voracek (2-years at $4.25 million), Wayne Simmonds (5-years at $3.97 million), Braydon Coburn (2-years at $4.5 million), Luke Schenn (2-years at $3.6 million) and Nicklas Grossman (2-years at $3.5 million).

Really? To sign Downie? I can already see the comments page if this happened.

you would have found a way to female dog about Jefferson making the Louisiana Purchase or Roosevelt( I think) acquiring Alaska off the Russians..

Jefferson you idiot, most of the territory turned into the Dustbowl in the 30s. Egg on your face!

- KINGKENZO

HA! Jefferson and company looked passed the big picture when it came to Louisiana. Why wasn't there a plan for a levee system surrounding Lake Ponchartrain? 200+ years later, egg on Jefferson's corpse.

He started off a little shaky but he sucked me back in with the idea of trading Coburn, Schenn or Grossmann.

Oshawa Generals radio broadcaster Vishal Hussain passed along information from sources that the Flyers are indeed one of the the prime landing spots for coveted Czech forward Jiri “Cakes” Sekac.
It’s another move that would provide cheap offensive depth for the Flyers, who don’t have much salary cap room to work with.
Sekac, a 6″0″, 174 lb forward who shoots left, had 11 goals and 17 assists in 48 games for HC Lev Praha of the KHL last season. At the young age of 22, the ceiling of his potential remains to be seen, and you have to credit the Flyers for pursuing yet another overseas option that could potentially be a key contributor.

James Mirtle ‏@mirtle 9m

Sharks have also re-signed backup goalie Alex Stalock so you can cross him off your UFA lists.

While I agree with most of bill's blogs I gotta admit I think he's way off on the coburn issue. If we can move him for a decent return ( whatever it may be) I think Philly does it. With the lack of a true #1 dman just what is there to worry about to replace with coburn? This team has a ton of 3-4 5-6 dman. Replacing anyone of them is no big deal. It's not going to make or break this team this season. Playing better team defense will help the d more than retaining coburn or grossman or schenn or any of our d. Bring up a young guy to replace anyone of those guys. Not going to make a huge difference IMO

If the flyers trade coburn, the only prize the flyers have a chance of winning is Connor McDavid.
