I guess a better way of saying what I mean is this......The Hawks have been a cap team during this whole era (I realize a couple years they were a bit under), so they can't spend any more than is currently the case. If Kane is saying he wants a good 2C, he's really telling them to re-allocate the resources from another area of the roster - the lower lines and the defense. Because he and Toews would need to settle for at most $7.5M each to offset the whole 2C salary (given cap increase next year).

Well, TT is more of a pass-first guy himself.
- eburgio

And so is Kane - which one concentrates on scoring goals, should TT become the 2C.

Steve you are right on. We would by $15 seats and upgrade after each stoppage. The Hawks, although loved, were hapless. I remember security saying they did not mind our up grades because it made the stadium look occupied on tv. Just stay out of rows 1 & 2
- Cup-Bearer

Even in Toews' rookie year, I'd go to about 15-20 games... buy the cheapest seat in the house. We got to know one of the attendants who I'd grease $5.00 a game and we'd sit in the first 3-4 rows on the glass, every game I attended.

Ahhh... those were the days

Kane. He wants to become more of a shoot-first guy.

Agreed. I think Keith is great. I do. I just heard that he was a jag off the ice. I haven't personally met him, so I take it as is. However, if we are going to pencil in other guys...I just thought I would share Keith.

Doughty is fantastic. The one thing that Doughty has over Keith is his shot. Hell, the whole LA D core have decent shots. That's one thing the Hawks D really needs to get better at. They need to get their shots through. Especially with traffic in front of the net.

29 other teams would love to have either or both. I think the way they treat the media is where they get the bad wrap. Night after night (some bad nights) they have mics in their faces and some person trying to get a rise out of them for a sound bite, so why be suprised. It would be similar to posting a negative after every one of our posts. We all would lash out sooner than later.

Not even at the league minimum with the Canucks retaining 100% of his salary.

I still think $9MM+ is a squeeze. They would have to cut payroll in 2015-16 just to make room for these two contracts at that level.

Maybe 88 holds out to see what the 2C plans are and if they work out or not. He has no incentive at this time to sign a year sooner than he really needs to. To me, that is the indicator of what is really going on.

- Return of the Roar

Look at Getzlaf/Perry's deal and add about a 10% premium for the higher cap.

Kane realizes the opportunity here compared to other places....If he doesn't sign before the convention then pay attention...Until then not much at all to worry about.

On Bolland...

The Leafs are in for a battle if they are to keep Dave Bolland, and given his injuries I am starting to wonder if its a battle they really want any part of. Florida's Dale Tallon knows Bolland well, and Patrick Roy also sees him as the kind of player they need to add.

Even if Bolland is healthy he'snot the same player he was with us. I'd have no issue going up against Bolland, I think the likes of Kane, Toews and Hossa know how to handle him.

I thought the same thing. Fortunately, it is an Eklund rumor so almost no chance it will ever happen.

I still think the Avs are a budget team. If they spend on ROR and Stastny I will believe that somewhat less. I think the only chance Bolland (at his ask of $5m plus) can be considered is if one or both go.

No...he'll be the #1 centre and Toews will move to the wing.

That was my first though with the explanation that Leino once played Center for the Red Wings at some point in his career.

You know what really pissed me off to no end?

When Leino either got selected as rookie of the year or was at least in the running for it when he got traded to Philly.

I was so mad, because i had seen him play a bunch of games for the Redwings prior to that, and he was like 28 or something crazy. (frank) Leino and the Redwings.

And philly too haha (philly isnt so bad, I just get angry when i think about this for some reason)

EDIT: now that i think about it, he might have just been getting some paise about being a high scoring rookie in the playoffs (not rookie of the year). But still the guy was almost 30 or something AND he had played in the playoffs with the Redwings before. I could be wrong

Gee, it's a real shame the Blackhawks don't have Jonathan Toews to satisfy the needs of Patrick Kane.

Oh wait, what? This whole scenario is nonsense.

"The allure of Buffalo."

/heavy eye roll

- HB_Stinks123

Silly indeed. It's like a guy from Peoria "longing" to go back home. People leave Buffalo because they can. People return to Buffalo because they have to. Kane doesn't have to and won't. I'd bet a shiny new dime on it...

Why in the world would TT have to play with Kane? That's the question the TT haters refuse to answer. Kane with Toews, TT with Hossa/Sharp.

It's so easy that it hurts.

- HB_Stinks123

I always thought Teravainen with Hossa would be a good idea, maybe with Saad on the LW.
