No to O'Reilly - not worth the assets they will want for him. Not the right timing for that sort of move . And lastly and most important - No way he is leaving Denver.
And it is not realistic to have expectations of Girgensons ? What do people do every day projecting one player or another as another so and so. Tim Murray has a plan whether you like or not and I doubt he makes the major move you seem to be looking for in O'Reilly or Mr Glue Callahan - At this time . No doubt moves will be made when the time is right . But hiis biggest priority has always been 2015 draft and he has pretty clear about that . Why is he going to do anything to endanger that . Even to placate a few fans that want something major now ?

No, I'm not EXPECTING that a guy who has never scored 25g in a season, at ANY level, to be able to produce In the NHL like ROR already has

I HOPE Girgensons can get to that level, but I don't expect it

U realize we lost a lot of talent right?
Adding ONE guy isn't gonna suddenly rocket us up the standings

Murray has also said a "rebuild" doesn't have to take 5yrs
If he feels he can add a piece this summer, I think he will
If the price is too much, then he won't

And u thinking a 22/23 year old that just scored 28goals is a "better suited to be a 3rd liner" is laughable
How many guys in the entire league scored more than that this year?

buffalo gets 3rd overall

edm. gets ehroff and 31st overall

I think we will prolly have to give edm more to get deal done prolly good prospect.

- hanleyaj

That's to little for the third overall. Ehrhoff is a good defenseman but honestly he is getting over valued on here by a lot. Ehrhoff, 2nd and McCabe should get the deal done. I'd be shocked if the trade value is any lower then what I've mentioned above.

$6.5 to $7 million is way too much for that type of player, even if the scenario you lay out comes to fruition. And he probably will get even more than that if he goes to UFA in a year or two.

It's not totally Ehrhoff's call. He has to have a list of 10 teams he won't accept a trade to. So in reality not every West team can be on it.
- Jammerz04

Again in cased you missed it for some reason . My Guess is Calgary , Winnipeg , Edmonton Vancouver and the Islanders will be on the list . California teams can seem attractive to players as well as Florida teams . Have you been in Edmonton , Calgary or Winnipeg in mid January ? Makes Buffalo seem tropical. I have and so has Erhoff playing for Vancouver . I am sure they are on the list

Hi plus minus was terrible compared to other top scorers on the team as well.Again also a product of the talent around him. Why do you think we need this instant leadership you think he will provide? All the kids will be in junior or on the farm in the AHL . I think you are greatly over valuing him and it is not time yet for such a move . Making moves just for the sake of making moves just does not work.

I don't think that holds true in this draft . It is a down year . 2013 draft or 2015 draft . you are right.

You got that right. he was worth 5 at 5 seasons . Rangers overpaid . Which is what the Rangers do. Don't forget he had the Glue and passed his glue off to Callahan !
You can never pay too much for good glue !

Adding one player can make all the difference man.

Ya he said it doesn't take 5 years for a rebuild. But he has said it's going to take AT LEAST 3 years to get it done. So he isn't going to come out like Darcy and say prepare for suffering. The rebuild will take at least 3 more years and that's if we are lucky.

The only players I think Murray will bring in is a defensive defenseman and the rest would be just salary dumps from other teams that would give up their 1st for us to take on the contract of X player. List may include Booth, Briere, Scuderi, Tootoo, Souray, Kelly, Liles, Versteeg, Parenteau, Umburger, Gonchar, Goligoski, Weiss, Franzen, M. Richards, Brown, Volchenkov, B. Richards, Nash, Hartnell, Lecavalier, Havlat, Malone, Carle, Lupul, Clarkson, Gleason and Laich, I might be missing some players that are considered to be "Salary dumps," but I think I got most of them.

If im edmontons gm, you have to convince me that what youre offering is better than draisitl or bennett, cuz thats what im drafting at 3. Foligno would be in any deal, just based on what they need. I cant tell if murray is willing to move myers or not, lets assume that myers, zadarov, and ristolainen are deal breakers on buffalos end, and assume that either pysyk or mccabe would be included. Edmonton doesnt have any seconds or thirds this year, probably put them down for one of each too. Is foligno, pysyk/mccabe, a 2nd and a 3rd too much? I dont think so. We have enough picks that we can afford to package some to move up to a player that has a better chance of being at least a regular and possibly a difference maker.

IMO McCabe should be off limits too. Personally the only D I would consider moving are Hoff and Pysyk. I like Pysyk too

If Myers could get you a Ryan Johansen/Tyler Seguin type young stud (which Myers probably can't on his own) then I'd consider dealing him

Still top 3 draft pick? Top 5 are pretty good. Just because it isn't a deep draft doesn't mean the top 5 are that much worse then years past. Top 5 is still very high quality of players. From 6 onward it gets worse. A simple 2nd rounder in a weak draft plus a defenseman will not get you that 3rd. No way in hell.

Move Pysyk over McCabe, what are you smoking? McCabe shouldn't be untouchable. Pysyk will end up being the better defenseman.

Im not in a big hurry to move mccabe either. Unfortunately, you have to give to get. I dont wanna move zadarov or ristolainen at all. If youre looking to get a blue chip pick you cant protect everybody.

He might be. It's far from certain. McCabe has played great and was one of the better college defensemen this season. The guy will be a solid NHL player

Pysyk is very light and loses a lot of battles in the corners, something McCabe doesn't do

That deal I believe MacTavish would laugh in Murray's face. Ehrhoff would have to be part of the trade. Foligno isn't that great and his potential is getting lower and lower every season.

For arguments sake, if we are targeting the 3rd pick, Pysyk being a former Edmonton player might be more attractive to them.

Myers, Ennis, Hodgson, Girgensons...
All still KIDS learning how to play the game IMO
And yes, I would like to see a real "leader" here to show them the way so they don't end up like Roy, Connolly, Stafford, etc
Why is that the "C" is so valued by so many, yet u think leadership isn't important?

As far as O'Reilly goes...
He's well known to be a very good defensive player. You're smart enough to know +/- can be deceiving... Aren't u?
He's a good young two-way player

What is the difference if we traded for O'Reilly this off season or next?
Please make sense of this timing issue u keep bringing up

I think buffalo's the only place where the fans and previous management really give a poop about whether that person is from Buff or not.

I doubt EDM passes up on McCabe, Risto, Zadorov to take Pysyk because he's from Edmonton.

Not saying that he's local so they would want him more. They would just be more comfortable with him.

There were rumors that the Oilers would move the pick for another Oil King in Reinhart....

ONE player isn't gonna make that much of a difference on THIS team
A guy like O'Reilly can be a great PIECE, but he won't be our savior
I agree with the types u think he'll bring in

But if there's a guy that fits into our rebuild with the right age, and he's available for the right price...
U really think Murray is gonna say,
"Not interested. Talk to me next year"

That's crazy

To be honest I think Pysyk would be the best fit for EDM

They need an NHL ready puck mover. Ehrhoff is aging, Risto and Zadarov are too young to make an impact, it's either Myers or Pysyk
