Yeah and Whipper and I have a bet. He said Johnny Gaudreau would outscore Hall in 2015/16....

Was Whipper pissed on Crown at the time? |

I think people misunderstand the positive affect that the Colorado action brings. It basically assure that ROR is going to get $6m for one or two years based on the terms of the qualifying offer and subsequent mediation. There will be no hold out.
It also allows for everyone to negotiate a deal prior to arbitration. Essentially Colorado has put everyone in a win win position. Obviously the intention is to either resign ROR or trade him to the highest bidder if they can't do a deal. It puts pressure on both sides to negotiate in good faith.
The RFA offer sheet has been neutralized. It will cost 4 picks. It really means if your an interested team you need to bring an offer through the front door. I say he signs a $42m deal for 7 years with the Avs. - spatso
It's always a bad idea to sign a RFA, that being said the Avs will 99.9% sign him after the 1-2 years to a long-term deal. He's young, impressive 200' game, 60+ points on the 2nd line. He's a keeper. |

July 1st-July 5th he can be offersheeted. To make it anythign that the Avs wont match, you would have to be in this neighbourhood for compensation
Over $6,728,781 To $8,410,976 - Two 1st Round Picks, 2nd, 3rd.
Bc The Avs filed team arbitration doesnt mean much, just gives them more power in their negotiations. Since it limits the offersheet window as well as stops him from being a summer/trainign camp hold out. Just business and a safety net if things go sideways with him. - DDM-Coga
I can see a team signing him for a couple years @6.7 million. If the avs are trying to avoid him accepting a 6.5 qualifying offer, they are not gonna wanna pay 6.7.
Depending on the team (Flames?) They might be inclined to take a 1st,2nd,3rd |

bottom 5? tied for 5th worst in 2013, 4th worst in 2014. Am I missing something or do you truly expect this team to be much better?
The oilers thought they were gonna be contenders years ago. |

i'm with you..........unless they land a couple of REALLY good players in the offseason, i can't think of 5 teams that will be worse.....i'm having a hard time thinking of even 2-3 that would be worse.
buffalo is the only "slam dunk" team, that i think will for sure finish behind them. |

If dion is traded for forwards or to move up that leaves the Leafs with a massive hole on D that no one could fill currently. Not even a ufa we could bring in could play those minutes he ate up. So if he goes I would think the leafs would need to trade for another D.
This is completely me spit balling here but Nashville has said no way we trade Weber meaning they do not want to go into a rebuild but want to compete for a cup. They lack alot upfront and have a nice piece in Jones.
If we say got a centre like Schenn back in a deal for Dion Kadri comes expendable for us to move for that D. What would it take to get Jones.
Kadri, 8th plus Lupal with 1mil retained?
I think Lupal would fit well there but his cap may be an issue but both player would def make an impact on a roaster thats short on scoring.
Any real thoughts. I know its a pipe dream so dont just troll. |

jones has the potential to be an elite, franchise d-man. you don't trade those guys for a 2nd line center, 8th pick in a weak-ish draft, and an often injured and overpaid lupul.
i can't see the leafs being able to put together a package, that the preds would want, to acquire jones.
not saying the leafs don't have the assets, but unless names like kessel or rielly (or however you spell it) are involved, poile will hang up on nonis.
i think you could maybe get a guy like Josi, but no chance you get jones. |

May be very true thanks for your input.
I just know if we trade Dion we need an up and coming stud to replace him. |

They will finish between 5-10 IMO
Like I said....I just don't think they will be in the McDavid/Eichel sweepstakes. Never said they would be contenders either!
Also I just checked....the Flames are not the Oilers. |

ottawa will be a better team next year, then they were this year.
their young defense will be better after a full and healthy season under their belt. the goalies will bounce back. and the return for spezza will allow this team to roll 4 balanced and good (not great) lines.
not saying they're contenders, but they will battle for a playoff spot. they wont' be in the conversation for the top pick.
won't be disappointed if they are, but i think they'll surprise people. |

Thats what i just said....
Also i could see it for sure he wants more money then the gm is willing to give him so what can you do sit him or trade him.
The deal would have to include Tanguay as a cap dump maybe even PA as a second dump. |
