That is a lot to give up for RoR. It is definitely worth it if you make the conference finals both years and most likely worth it as long as you make the playoffs but without that guarantee it will be tough for Calgary, Toronto, or Carolina to give up those picks.

As a gamble I would be open to offering RoR less than $6.725M per year so that all you give up is a single 1st depending if the team doing it truly believes they will be a playoff team.

It would be very tough for Colorado to match if they re-sign Stastny, could get this young stud for cheap.

Maybe someone can convince him to sign a one year $6.725M contract with a $6 signing bonus then if Colorado doesn't match he immediately signs an extension worth $5.75M per year. Lock him up long term at a great deal and give him huge cash up front. You can front load the extension too to balance the drop.

What do the Leafs, Canes, & Flames fans think?

As a Flames fan, no way. I love ROR but we can't afford to give up a 1st in 2015, nevermind 2 1st's, considering we should definitely be a bottom 3 team. I'm not hoping for it, but the team on paper just isn't good enough. Steps are being taken, this would be a step to get better but the cost is too high.

The Flames won't be a bottom 3 team next year, guaranteed.

They won't be that bad. Their D is too solid and Ramo is only going to get better. Not only that but they work too hard and are too well-coached. I just don`t see it.

I know Edmonton is making it look easy but it`s actually kind of hard to be bottom 3 year after year, after year, after year, after year, after year......

I know I am just ripping on that gem of a comment from weeks ago. Flames worked hard last year, but if you lose Cammi and Jones continues to be useless, its tough to imagine the kids to pick up all the offence with Cammy gone

They are going to have to spend some money though....if they lose Cammy they will have to sign someone else. Help will be coming one way or another!

I always forget about Jones

Maybe they will buy him out? He shows flashes ever 2-3 months haha.

Thats what got Jones that new deal in the first place, those flashes.
Hes a bum for weeks but then figures it out, makes you fall in love with him, and then just disappoints you again. Him and Chris Stewart

Gio had a career year. Why will Ramo only get better? Cammi will likely be gone.

Everything went good for the Flames last season and they are still picking 4th. Whats going to happen this year is far from guaranteed.

If the Leafs offer sheeted ROR I would have a fit. For certain those 1sts would turn into lotto picks and we would have another Phil Kessel trade mess on our hands for the haters to pick apart.
- Kinger34

YEAH just the Leafs luck. They'll successfully offer sheet ROR thus losing their 2015 1st pick, than typical Leaf fashion, they'll finish 30th next season. That's life in Leaf Nation.

The Flames had their fair share of injuries to significant players, Gio, Ramo, Wideman, Glencross etc.....

Ramo will only get better as he adjusts to the North American game. His advancement from day 1 to the last game this past season was significant. I think he will improve even more this season.

The team was patchwork last year and they still managed 4th.....

I think the Bottom 5 will be close (similar to this year), I also agree that the Flames will improve sligthly over last year, However, I also see the teams in our division getting much better.

They will but hopefully not. I'm tired of having no Canadian teams in the playoffs. Hopefully Canadian teams all start being good other than Montreal.

I think people misunderstand the positive affect that the Colorado action brings. It basically assure that ROR is going to get $6m for one or two years based on the terms of the qualifying offer and subsequent mediation. There will be no hold out.

It also allows for everyone to negotiate a deal prior to arbitration. Essentially Colorado has put everyone in a win win position. Obviously the intention is to either resign ROR or trade him to the highest bidder if they can't do a deal. It puts pressure on both sides to negotiate in good faith.

The RFA offer sheet has been neutralized. It will cost 4 picks. It really means if your an interested team you need to bring an offer through the front door. I say he signs a $42m deal for 7 years with the Avs.

Avs are shopping PAP according to McKenzie...that doesnt surprise me at all. And have 2.5m in healthy scratch Ryan Wilson. They will move that money around. They will keep Tangs, he has good value as long as he stays healthy
- DDM-Coga

Should be good for a 4th round pick.
