If we can move Vinny would anyone be interested in Gaborik? He looked refreshed with LA. I think LA would like to keep him but say he does hit open market would he interest you as a sniper for Giroux's wing?

I think they can find a younger, more cap friendly winger.

Wanted to get him at the deadline. No chance now. Kings will find a way to keep him. And if not he'll get stupid money from someone else.

yeah exactly. its crazy. he went for peanuts. but they got him just at the right time. hungry, healthy, motivated for a new deal.

i cant see him signing for less than 5 per a year. even if he leaves, it was still a homerun for LA.

his honest assessment of LSchenn makes me sad (although I agree with him for the most part, I am still hoping Schenn can still improve a bit when he hits 28-29 years of age)

I see Hemsky turned down 3yr 10M offer from the Sens.

Wonder where he will end up and for how much.

A fair, unbiased, informed assessment at that. Very sobering. To give up a chip like JVR for what amounts to a third pairing defenseman is part and parcel with the type of moves that constantly sets this franchise back. Their biggest issue is they can't get out of their own way sometimes. Very frustrating.

JVR has some warts too, but the trade does not look good at this point and may never.

Whatever, it's water under the bridge now.

while i can see why hed turn that down, realistically that would need to be the type of deal id be a buyer at for him.

I sw Dave Steckel is an UFA. I liked him with the Caps and got to know him a little when i worked with the Hersehy Bears. Was a solid 4th line guy. Had size and won faceoffs. killed penalties and had a little grit. He could be a low risk guy to play on 4th line if Boyle is too much. I think he played at Ohio State.

I could see him going to Aneheim or another team that has good potential for around the same moneys

Personally I wouldn't want him for anything more than that

One of JVR's biggest warts was staying healthy. He's seemed to put that behind him now.

Amazing making that trade leads to a promotion.

great great talent, but he gets hurt a bit too much for my liking

I would take a chance on him too but for nothing more then the Sens offered.

i dont think guys in the subban, pietrangelo, doughty, karlsson level will be traded. at all.

then its that next level, which is open for a lot of interpretation.

- stayinthefnnet

I'm hoping Subban asks for an enourmous amount of money on his next contract... so much montreal decides to trade is best

And now they have Andre Markov asking for 3 yrs 6M per. That can't help when they have to balance their cap. PK is going to get his 8.5M/yr and Montreal will pay it too.

If we could get the guy that just won a Cup with LA, then fine. But I doubt we will. That team, from the coach on down, function like a well-oiled machine, and everybody is on board. So when they brought him in, he was given a role within the system, and was basically forced to comply. Not sure the Flyers have that same structure.

But but but...JoeyRussalini just told me our best course of action was trading the NHL's best penalty killer, a good prospect, and our pick for Phaneuf.
- jmatchett383

If this is in reference to me, please show me where i said to trade all that for phaneuf. I also told you last offseason the flyers made a a lot of stupid moves which you jumped all over me about last summer saying i was too negative which after all ce to fruition ... Funny i never see you reference those discussions.

Over 30? Check.
Expensive? Check.
Signs of decline? Check.

Sounds like another winner to me.
