Just wanted to share this. I read that league sources claim the Calgary Flames have made an offer for Senators center Jason Spezza. Their offer (believed to be” Jiri Hudler, Mikael Backlund, possibly Dennis Wideman and one of their several second and third-round picks”)

This comes from Bruce Garrioch so it's pretty dubious. I've seen another Ottawa reporter claim the flames have no interest in Spezza. In any case he reportedly will not accept a trade to another Canadian team, so...

Not sure I like the idea to begin with. Even if he waived to come here would he re-sign? I doubt it

Not a Phaneuf fan but if he were to play for the Flyers he would be the best Dman on the team.

Problem is I don't feel that is a fair deal for Philly to give up B Schenn and a first for Dion. If there were a way to deal Vinny and some other player(s) and pick(s) for him than ok. But I doubt Toronto bites on that. They have a high value on Phaneuf.

Again much like the Kesler rumor to Philly, I feel Phaneuf in black and orange won't happen either.

i dont know why every pens fan is still holding out hope on a kesler trade. sutter played fantastic towards the end of the season, he almost played like a 2nd line center, the of course we have malkin and crosby.....what we need is 3 and fourth line help. and it seems to me like sutter has got the 3 line center spot all sealed up. what is kesler gonna play wing?

i dont want boyle. we have plenty of defense. plenty of young unproven guys but plenty of older guys to hold their hands. the way i see it the pens have about 10 nhl caliber defense men right meow.

Why? He's a top pairing defenseman. Eats a ton of minutes. Plays the PP and PK. Has a great slap shot. And plays against the toughest lines while playing for TOR

Yeah that's what we need to do, mortgage more of the future, a very serviceable/good(depending on his mood) 3rd line Center, and a guy who has scored 40 goals in a season with a great cap hit for a guy who'll be 30 years old by the start of the season with 2 years left.

No!!!! Don't want to trade for Dion and I definitely don't want to trade a 22 year old who scored 20 goals this year. Develop the D from within, and stop taking on massive contracts. Don't some of you flyer fans who like this rumor think it's odd they just signed him to that deal and are already desperate to move him? This would be such a typical flyers trade completely lacking patience to stay the course. And Brian Boyle is nice but I'd rather get Laughton into that role and start developing him.
