But we have basically been awarding 6 mill for 5 yrs or more to every kid injured or not- points or not -and jultz is a money hungry female dog who cant play defense so... we either trade him or sign him and he will be wanting money or will hold out... he is trouble plain and simple- just like he was from the start with Anaheim...

I'm thinking it would be a terrible trade for the Oilers, not the Leafs.

That being said, Toronto doesn't need a #2 centre at this point. If the Leafs take back Gagner, clearly they are desperate to get rid of Dion because clearly this deal doesn't do anything to address current areas of concern.

How the heck else is Edmonton ever going to get a top pairing D man? By the time they draft one, develop him, and he is able to contribute in the NHL, Hall and the kids will be retiring! No free agent worth his salt will ever sign there.

As for Dion having a bloated contract.......if he was a UFA this summer he would get much more than $7M, and you can bet Edmonton would be offering it. This would be a good deal for Edmonton right now, and great financially within 3 years.
