The Leafs need more cap space with so few signed guys right now, so whatever Edmonton has in mind it's including the 3rd overall. I think it is a great idea to move up and try and get Ekblad. I like having another cheap young d man and I like having more cap space...

might not be eberle but it will be more than you think. As much as people hate on Dion, he is one of the top 10 defenceman in the league, worth the 7 mill a season.

Also a lot of these guys arent a number 1 on most teams. The guys I bolded would not do a better job than Phaneuf if they were on Toronto, I can imagine Toronto as a lotto team if our #1 d-man was Byfuglien

Only way Oilers would trade for Phanuef is for Gagner. They would be absolutely crazy to trade anything else.

this is one of the dumbest posts i've seen in a while. Gagner is making 4.8 mil, and has never even cracked 50 pts in his career. His value is so low, he is rumored to be in play for umberger (who is also heavily overpaid and underperforming)

I get that you are a nucks fan who dislikes the leafs, but think about it...why would the leafs trade their #1 d-man for a guy who would be the #3 center (#4 if Bolland is back), unless they are getting something else?

Giordano would've won the Norris if he'd played the whole season. Guy was lights out this season on an abysmal team. Dominated in all zones even against the elite talent in the pacific
