Pretty much 90% of the owners in this League will spend to the cap if it involves a playoff run. So that doesn't build a cup winner

If it was pissing contest among Billionaires without the cap the Leafs would win the CUP every year.

One or 2 bad contracts can screw a team. Look at the rangers with their 2 highest players that did nothing in the playoffs.

I guess. Not sure it was realistic to expect them to be much better. Sh!t happened. We thought Omark and Hartikainen would be players, Ryan Whitney pretty much took a career ending injury, our Goalie hit the skids....lot's of promising players didnt work out.

they have a early 1st pick, (with or without a leafs trade),
Emelin would have to be the guy, not Gorges.
