Hmm i'd not be against him coming to Edmonton, but not at the price a lot of leafs fans are asking. Firstly his contract isn't the best, he's not a plug, he's a very good D actually but he's not on the level of 7M a year.and that also goes for what the leaf fans are asking, if you want eberle plus the 3rd plus prospects you'd better have a shea Weber or Ryan Getslaf that just isn't happening. If the oilers move the the 3rd this year for phenuf fans will burn kats house to the ground, if that pick is going anywhere it's in a package for an ELETE number ONE D not a very good number 2 or 3 I see something more like this

Leaf fans will probably hate it but the truth is they will not get much more then that from any team unless they retain about 3M of his contract for the whole contract and they're not gonna do that.

I see the oilers still picking ekblad if he's there and going after a center through the market whitch is very deep this year. If he's not they pick one of bennet or drassiniti whitch ever one is still on the board (my hope is drassiniti) sorry can't spell his name lol. I'd rather have one of those two players then phenuf and I think most oilers fans feel the same. Ekblad has higher upside then phenuf and drassiniti is a tank.

Ekblad is according to Craig Button "a top 3 or 4 defenseman in the NHL" so I don't think its automatic that he has a higher ceiling than Phaneuf.

I also think your proposed trade would cause riots in Toronto.

Then that means some sort of trade that lets Toronto draft 3rd AND 8th. Or Nail Yakupov. Baring something completely ridiculous, that's the only thing I can think of that would be an offer that can't be refused.

So by sending Phaneuf, toronto will want to either pick 3rd and 8th therefore you mean Phaneuf for 3rd overall? or Yakupov, so Yakupov for Phaneuf?

Go see if Florida will trade Huberdeau or 1st overall for Phaneuf. They are desperate to improve too. I bet they say no.
