Have a great time, and you probably won't remember everything so don't worry aboutt it! That's a good thing!

His first 2 seasons were great. He has played on one of the worst teams in the NHL over the last couple years. A change of scenery with the opportunity to play with a good PP unit will increase his numbers and just the fact he would be playing with a much better team this guy ( only 24) all round game will be solid

I would definitely have B Schenn as part of package in a proposal for him

- 3flyerkids

I agree with his first 2 seasons, and he was injured in his 3rd, I just don't know what kind of package Buffalo would require, in accordance with our depth taking a big hit to obtain him.
I would much rather put the money towards Niskanen, or Stralman, (and keep the assets we have), either way, they need to figure something out with Vinny's contract moving forward.

Of the Buffalo defensemen, I would much rather pursue Ehrhoff over Myers. He would bring way more to our d corps and would be MUCH cheaper to obtain.
- FlyersSteve118

Ehrhoff would come at a cheaper price but he is 7 years older than Myers and Ehrhoff has a longer contract. I guess it depends on what it would take to land either one.

Bill, you mentioned (and I've heard a lot of people say it) that the Flyers players need to "keep their feet moving" to be effective. What, specifically, do you mean by this? Are you saying they just need to work harder? Or does this refer to actual technique? For instance, it wasn't until I was playing in an over 30 league that an older player pointed out to me that I should just go with my momentum when picking up the puck behind my own net and moving it out...rather than trying to make some kind of move get away from the fore checker or stop behind the net to set up. It was like a light bulb went on for me. It was such a simple thing but made a big difference.

The Flyers tend to get too stationary at times, at both ends of the ice. Leads to a lot of east-west passing and being more susceptible to a good forechecking team. Moving the puck up ice, to players in motion, moves the puck faster & allows the Flyers to mitigate the speed disadvantage they have against many teams.

I hate the way the Flyers always seem to want the take the puck back behind their net and setup the breakout. Makes me crazy. Just move the thing out.

Agreed with the draft being forward heavy, only a handful of D to really consider

Having more players with "breakout qualities", would change this, also, when a team is assembled in a trap, and you do not possess the players with these strengths, it tends to slow things down.

Gotta give Battleship Vinny time to button-hook in the neutral zone...

Thank you Bill. Yes, Giroux need a player who can shoot that puck.

As for Kimmo, Welcome back!

If Vinny is a battleship, that has to make Hal Gill a super carrier or something.

2 questions.

Why are we going after Myers? Dumb, in my opinion. He's vastly underachieved, is expensive, and is on the rung above bust status.

Secondly, why would Timonen be getting top pair minutes?

- Giroux_Is_God

Yup

better off trying to trade Grossmann and go with the following

At Even strength
Coburn-Schenn
Streit-AMac
Timo-Alt

on the PK
Timonen-Coburn
AMac-Schenn

I think that if you paired him with Coburn, Schenn could be an effective shut down guy on the top pair at even strength. And it gives you one mobile player on each pairing.

I cannot say this gives me a lot of confidence in this team.

So what is the deal with Alt? Its just about put up or shut up time for him. Is this kid ever going to get a shot?

their first touches are among the worst i've ever seen....watching teams as the playoffs went on, i saw passes that were accepted like there was adhesive on the stick of the recipient; and not just perfect passes either, i mean just excellent first touch of the puck leading to consistent forward motion. i rarely see a flyer player not need at least two or three attempts to get the puck under control which then allows the forechecker to be right on top of them before they have the puck in a position to make a play.
not sure how this gets fixed but i just can't believe the drop off from the top teams to the flyers in this aspect

I agree with Bill, if you improve the forward group both through the addition of one or two mobile 2-way players and get the others to commit to playing a better 200 ft game, our current D would look much better.

I am wondering if with Hextalls philosophy we see the end of the tough guy roles on the team, Rosehill or Rinaldo type players and start moving these low salaried 2 way type players with speed and some scoring abilities on the 4th lines...

I think Rosehill is all but gone. Rinaldo may hang on as a 12/13 forward. At least he has good speed and a big hit now and then can change momentum in the short run.

He'll be 23 at the start of the season and hasnt sniffed an NHL game yet. Just curious. Everyone says get Ghost or Hagg or Morin in and theoretically Alt should be the next guy up but next to no one is calling his name.
