I'm just wondering why Montreal and Toronto fans are always offering up the lesser player + kind of offers, suggesting that other teams would do them.

Hey how about Little + for Subban? - stormeyAlterEgo
Because historically to get a big name player its a number of lesser players unless its a one for one which are rare.
Nash was traded for multiple lesser players, Phaneuf (when he was a big name) was traded for multiple lesser players, Jeff Carter, Mike Richards, all traded for mutliple assets that individually were not equal to the player being traded for....its not like these kinds of trades dont happen. |

Dion Phaneuf was traded for a bunch of poop.
edit:
The Calgary Flames have traded defenceman Dion Phaneuf, forward Fredrik Sjostrom, and prospect defenceman Keith Aulie to the Toronto Maple Leafs in exchange for forwards Matt Stajan, Niklas Hagman, Jamal Mayers and defenceman Ian White. |

It's just that Habs have 2 needs. A top winger (maybe 2) and a top 4 right handed dman.
I don't like trading Price, but it would answer these 2 needs.
Sure they would then have a need in nets, but that can be fix more easily IMO if it's the only thing left to do. |

I'm thinking the former GM should take part, if not most, of the blame.
The Luongo/Schneider fiasco was unbelievable. |

So they'd only need a #1 goalie afterwards, BRILLIANT !!! Everyone knows proven #1 goalies are a commodity. |
