What do you think this is, a hockey forum?
- funmaster18

Oh, sorry, I forget it's a forum talking about a bunch of faeries who run around in circles, fake crippling injuries every 30 seconds, and have "exciting" 0-0 ties.

So you're saying once you've had an orgasm, you just say, that was great. But now, been there done that. I'm done with sex?

By all accounts those who've won a cup end up even more fired up to do it again. Which is why so often teams look for veteran leadership with cup pedigrees.

- bodiva88

That analogy doesn't quite work. Where does the 82 game, 9 month season and first 3 rounds of the playoffs fit into your orgasm scenario? Foreplay?

And who do you think wants to win a cup more: Jerome Iginla or Patrick Kane?

Obviously these are all highly competitive athletes and they always want to win. In fact I don't know anybody who likes to lose. My comment was only about a difficult and lifelong goal being attained - maybe twice in Richards' case - and how the fire can dim some.

I'll disagree, as players have stated that after they get a taste, they want to do it again even more.

A 9 month foreplay seems a bit over the top

Nope. The point is if it feels good, you want to do it more. The argument that someone would be jaded by winning just doesn't wash. Ask the 90s Redwings.
- bodiva88

I never said or even implied jaded. That's got a negative connotation I never approached.

So is size the only thing? Do they have the same shot power? Do they check just as hard as each other? Are they both equally strong? You have to define what categorical advantages the bigger player has. It matters, because I may have a legit reason, but you need to define the advantage you see the bigger player having.

Also, I'm not disagreeing with your premise, but there may be a reason.

- jmatchett383

The only advantage in the premise the bigger player has is size. All I'm saying is that I think that size can many times be a tie breaker between choosing one player or another. Realistically, in a real world environment, how often are any two players going to be equal in everything but size? But I think in speculation, that most talent evaluators, if they felt two players were pretty equal, they'd take the bigger player if there was a significant difference in size between the two players.

What's preseason then? Drinking alcohol before the foreplay starts?

How would you guys feel if the Flyers won a Cup, but the roster was made up of players you didn't especially care for. For instance:

Uncle Lou was the GM
Brodeur as goalie
James Neal as 1st line winger
Carcillo on the 4th line

and so on
