Per Marc Spector:
They’ll be looking for a puck-moving defenseman and a five-six shut-down type player. The Oilers have liked Flyers Braydon Coburn and could go after him again this offseason
So if they did this what type of return would Flyers get?
Who would take those minutes that Coburn played? |

Only if it's the best orgasm ever. - jmatchett383
Nope. The point is if it feels good, you want to do it more. The argument that someone would be jaded by winning just doesn't wash. Ask the 90s Redwings. |

You might want to do some careful back-reading. |

The Oilers don't have anyone that would replace what Coburn brings to this roster. Te best option would be a 3-way trade, or work a trade centered around Coburn for Schultz (which the Oilers would be very unwilling to do). |

How the hell are we going to get better by trading coburn? We can't, he had a down year coming out of the lockout but we can't trade him |

You have to define "bigger." Taller? Heavier? Stronger? Harder shot? Checking impact? Stronger legs? You need to clarify exactly what traits the bigger player has over the smaller player, or all of of these equal and one player is simply taller and heavier? |

The only (real) scenario for trading Coburn would be a proven NHL top-pair defenseman (Weber, as an example, though he's not coming here). |

Oh they'd move him for a ridiculous overpayment. But yeah if you stay within reality I agree with you. |

Just if they're in. I thought I remember reading they didn't make the cut.. but maybe that was about the Olympics 2 years ago. I know they have a slim to none chance of winning if they are in. Though they have at least made the quarter finals the last 2 Cups?
I know I could just look it up I guess… :/ - eayost
They've qualified for every World Cup since 1990. |

Soccer gets a bad wrap in the us, but it's a global sport that's obsessed over in many countries. People like to point at all the diving, but you can say the same in hockey and in hockey you are supposed to get hit. |

My premise was simple. If all things are equal, I would take the bigger player, if there was a significant difference between the two players, size wise.

So is size the only thing? Do they have the same shot power? Do they check just as hard as each other? Are they both equally strong? You have to define what categorical advantages the bigger player has. It matters, because I may have a legit reason, but you need to define the advantage you see the bigger player having.
Also, I'm not disagreeing with your premise, but there may be a reason. |
