You must also keep the Stamp of Douchebaggary affixed to the bill, as shown in the example. Furthermore, the bill must not be altered in any way and must remain flat.

Rangers win tonight 5-1 .
Kings lose Jeff Carter to a broken foot - Winning
Kings win tonight 7 - 2.
Jeff Carter gets a hat trick but never actually hits the net himself. All three goal are deflected off of players just to the side of the net. |

Might have been before your time on here GiG.
Back in high school I had a buddy tell me to not ask out a chick when she is on her 'monthly visitor'. How could you tell I asked?

That's not my argument. This isn't about the smallest of the small.
It's more against the players that are big at a young age. The point is, all things being equal, taking the bigger player isn't necessarily the right move. - bradleyc4
Hey guys. I've been an everyday reader for over 5 years now. Bill (if you are even reading this late in the blog), everyone's praise of you is absolutely spot on... you're the best hockey writer I have ever read, not just for the Flyers either.
I usually back read way late in the day, so I never comment, but I just had to in this debate about drafting bigger players when all else is equal, sorry if I'm Leight. If all variables are the same and the player is bigger, you won't be talking about drafting them at the same range. If Giroux was 6'4" and 220 with exactly the same skill set, we are talking about a Lindros type generational talent. At G's size he falls in the draft because there has to be doubt about matching up against the big boys. That being said if we are talking about a player being taken at 17 overall, 2nd, or 3rd round then imo size shouldn't be the automatic tiebreaker.
The smaller player most likely has more talent and the bigger player has more of an NHL build, but is the bigger player ranked where he is because of playing against smaller players that when in the NHL will fade into the background? Likewise is the smaller player too easy to knock off the puck and will be limited to a very good AHL player? I believe what Tomahawk said about hockey sense and determination being a better tie breaker. It's much harder to quantify than size, but in today's NHL I believe would be a better place to pay attention to.
Apologies for a long first post... |

Favorite player ? - Winning
Complicated answer, but the short of it was Leclair was my favorite player growing up and Pronger. To quote a friend of mine during the 2010 cup run, "Richard's might be the captain, but Pronger's the general." |

Trading Vinny for a 7th is dumb. - Winning
Not if they use the cap space on a solid winger like Kulemin or Jokenin. You could sign Schenn to a generous number, and would still have around $4 million to get a backup goalie and another winger.
FORWARDS
Scott Hartnell ($4.750m) / Claude Giroux ($8.275m) / Jakub Voracek ($4.250m)
Michael Raffl ($1.100m) / Brayden Schenn ($3.000m) / Wayne Simmonds ($3.975m)
Matt Read ($3.625m) / Sean Couturier ($1.750m) / Jason Akeson ($0.715m)
Pierre-Edouard Bellemare ($0.600m) / Scott Laughton ($0.863m) / Brandon Alderson ($0.768m)
DEFENSEMEN
Kimmo Timonen ($2.000m) / Braydon Coburn ($4.500m)
Mark Streit ($5.250m) / Nicklas Grossmann ($3.500m)
Andrew MacDonald ($5.000m) / Luke Schenn ($3.600m)
Chris Pronger ($4.941m) /
GOALTENDERS
Steve Mason ($4.100m)

Trading Vinny for a 7th is dumb. Trading Vinny for a piece your team needs isn't. Look how many teams have been reported interested . - Winning
Signing Vinny in the first place was dumb. Getting him out of town (perferably without having to retain salary) is about the smartest thing they could possibly pull off this summer. If that means they get only a 7th, or nothing at all, so be it. |

There is talk of the Cap going up another 6M after this season. Carrying a 2M overage is one third of that. Don't think that could hinder the Flyers ability to add a top defenseman if it's available? A player on an ELC is not going to replace Timonen. - MJL
Also if the flyers manage to save about 1 to 2 mil in cap space using prongers ltir that will be deducted from the cap penalty next year. So that penalty next year could be just 500k to 1mil which would be nothing. |

Liked the signing, but we don't have the kinds of wingers he needs to be succeesful. It's not a crime when something doesn't work out -- the crime would be trying it again without addressing the support the player needs, and the Flyers don't have those pieces and not a ton of options to fill them.
Sometimes, stuff just doesn't work out, and if we can get out of it...simply is the best of all the options.

Which quality should have more weight considered is a different argument. In the premise proposed hockey sense and determination would be equal between the two players in the hypothetical. And I disagree that a smaller player likely has more talent. Not always true. But again, that was not part of the premise.

It wasn't dumb, it just didn't work out last season. Can't predict injuries. I think there are a lot of question marks going forward in how Lecavalier fits going forward. Might be in everyone's best interests to see if they can move him.

I think I get what you're saying, but not sure. But Cap space is never saved using LTIR. A lot is going to depend on other moves they make this off season, and what the in season roster looks like. |
