Did they ever mention what actually happened? Did he use a derogatory gay slur or a racist slur towards a black player?

I know it doesn't matter, but I find it strange that I can't find anything about the incident. Not even who it involved.

Andy Delmore is one of my favorite former Flyers. However, I find it comical that he coaches defense. He really was nothing more than a winger that happened to play defense.

Does anyone have footage of his playoff hat trick against the Pens?

Sorry, it was an 8-year-old.

After Sunday's overtime thriller, Laperriere took some playful jabs at Mike Richards, whose digging in front of the net helped set up Dan Carcillo's winning goal.

"He's got the worst body on the team, but he puts it in front of anything," Laperriere said. "He might not be flashy like [Sidney] Crosby on the other side of the state, but he's as effective or even more."

"Worst body"?

"He's built like my 8-year-old son," Laperriere replied, drawing laughs.

Richards took it in stride after Monday's practice.

"Like I told [Laperriere] last night, when I was 16 years old, I was told I would never [have to] bench-press a puck into the net," Richards said with a smile. "So I don't need to worry about that too much during the year."

Definitely true. But if two players are equal in talent, I'll take the bigger player.

Hexy and Co. weren't shy about taking calculates risks on guys with glaring question marks... Ebert comes to mind... if DeAngelo is there at 17, that might be a heck of a value there.

Huh, I wonder if he hit the gym more what kid of player he'd be. Seems like his style of play would only benefit from being bigger. He plays a physical game, so it's hard to believe he doesn't put a lot of emphasis on training. I guess he's one of those guys that didn't need to in order to be effective, but the older he gets the more he will regret it.

DeAngelo is an intriguing kid, but the size, issues in own end and behavioral stuff put up some red flags. Whoever gets him will get a damned good offensive defenseman, as the kid is skilled as Hell.

What worries me is, in the past, the Flyers have often taken guys with similar pasts and ended up finding them to be too much of a headache & traded them before they could make a positive impact at NHL level.

The ones that come to mind are Steve Downie, Patrick Maroon & Tony Voce. Now, Voce obviously wasn't a great prospect and really had no NHL future, but Downie & Maroon did and the Flyers tired of them and shipped them out. I worry about using a top pick when thats the track record

- Jsaquella

Think what separates Maroon/Downie from DA is upside... the guys they've taken risks on in the past didn't have a ton of it. There were mobility issues with those guys, too.

DA could have top-pairing potential...that might be more worth the headache.

You can spend all the time in the gym you want, but it won't give you what Mike Richards has that is far more important. And that is heart, and the will to win. And he is also a leader, and a winner. He's won at every level. Maybe he would benefit from becoming a fitness freak, or by becoming stronger. I truly don't know. But what I do know is that it's hard for me to criticize Richards as a player, with the overall career he has had.

I always liked Richards. If we had protected him from the hyenas posing as our media I think he would have done better here. As for his fitness levels I never noticed it in his play - although I haven't followed him while he's been in LA.

Years later, Wilkie passed through the Flyers organization and had a 10-game cup of coffee with the NHL club in 1983-84.

Bill, I think you meant 1993-1994 for when Wilkie played with the Flyers.

He didn't handle the media real well when he was here, but I don't blame him. He handled it better then I would've!

The Flyers have a bit of history with picking (or wanting to pick) kids from New Jersey AND with giving guys that had past incidents a second chance.

So, drafting DeAngelo would not be out of the realm of possibility, IMO.

I that's something that needs looking into, a pr coach would do wonders for this team in dealing with the jack@$$es that cover the team.

Staying out partying till 4am on game days was more of a problem for Richards than the media.
