I have no problem with the 'Hawks team as is, but if anyone is moved it should start with Leddy. Leddy is blocked by four d-men better than he is and a young d-man who can push the puck and provide some offense is a desired player in this league, especially for teams with lack of defense.

How about a Chicago/Phoenix deal involving Leddy/Hanzal? Hanzal is exactly what the Blackhawks need. He's about to enter his prime at 27, has EXCELLENT size at 6'6" and 230 lbs and he can hit. Play him in between Saad and Kane and let's see just how special he really is.

Of course, I highly doubt Phoenix wants to part with Hanzal, but if the rumors are true that they are indeed shopping Yandle, they will still need another good, young offensive d-man after OEL.

A Leddy/Hayes/2nd for Hanzal/4th works for me.

Most of the good C's being talked about in the market (Kesler, Spezza, Thorton, Plekanic) all carry a cap hit that's $5.00 million +. The one player that has a similar cap hit and high end skill is Patrick Sharp so I would think he'd be the main piece.

Somebody(s) have to go. At least 1, probably 2, maybe even 3....all depends on how high 19/88 AAV climbs.....

1. He's a top 4 d-man. They don't grow on trees.
2. He's only 32 and given his fitness habits, is still entering his prime
3. Chicago's win % since he arrived is well north of .600 according
to all the stats. The dude FITS this org like a glove.
4. Leddy is not and may never be a top 4 d-man.

That was originally who I thought. And then I hear rumors about habs looking to add a high end Dman. With JJ saying a trade between the 2 teams would involved mutiple players, it really got me curious now.

I believe that he would fit that role of #2C for the next season or two. He's also an affordable cap number ($2.75 million for the next two seasons). He's got enough of a two-way game to fit the #3C role if Teuvo pans out.

No matter how it works for this season, next summer is going to be interesting for sure. No one really knows how that is going to shape up until Toews & Kane have signed their extensions.

Agreed 100% but I just don't see any large money coming this way unless they deal multiple large contracts back and get low money/prospects/picks.

I also think 8.5 is way low.....NHLPA needs those higher to slide in 2nd and 3rd tier guys. yeah long term means you give up dollars, but there are a LOT of eyes on those numbers from GMs to the players when that announcement comes out in early July.

You may see a lot of guys approach this year like 2010, knowing that IF they are still here in October it may be their last chance to win a cup in Chicago with the same group of guys.

I'll also be curiosu to see if any idiot beat writer does their homework and starts to realize just what faces this team in the next 12-13 months.

Yeah, let's get rid of Bollig so we are literally the softest team in the NHL with maybe 2 people who throw decent hits. So f****** sick of hearing people ripping on Bollig, he a fine 4th line forward on any team in my oppinion (as was agreed by MANY people on this board).

Former Wing, knows the puck-possession style the Hawks play. If you can get Filpulla at $4M that's not a bad option.
