I sure hope he doesn't give up 3 assets to get 1 player. He should be fired if he does.

If there's one thing Stan does well it's asset management.

44% on FO's is brutal.
- Hawks82

Works out to a difference of about two per game, assuming 20 face offs taken.

Shaw needs to spend the summer with Yanic.

Who cares what the other team does with your X property . It doesnt matter .

WHo cares if SPezza walks in a year ? That just frees up 7m in cap space for the following off season .

Maybe SPezza will enjoy his time here with Kane and Saad.

If the Hawks go to battle with Shaw as the #2 center it wont work for a very long time. He isnt going to get that much better at the dot and for every positive offensive play he makes he takes a stupid penalty too.

- mrpaulish

I'm going to look up where that guy Cap Space finishes every year in the scoring race. I think I will find he isn't much of a scoring threat and does even less in the playoffs.

So after next season you are out Sharp, Leddy and probably Spezza but you don't care. Ok, if that works for you might as well give it a try.

Depends on who the player is and how long his contract lasts.

Hjalmarsson, Bickell and Kruger for Spezza, Greening and Wiercioch and Ottawa retains $2M of Cap space.

Dream on.

How about....

...For the guy who's already asked to be traded?

Go look at what Kesler's FO% was his first three years in the league.

I was supporting you. 52%-44% sounds a lot bigger than it is in raw numbers. And I do think the terrier will improve if he's gonna remain a center.

That doesn't mean Shaw's % will be significantly higher next season.

But Cap Space is very movable for a skater who does score and fills needs.

You said Leddy replaces Oduya. The quote was in response to that.

A couple face offs per game doesn't seem like the largest thing in the world. Improve? Fine idea. End of the world?

I know. I was just making a point. Some people think it can't be improved.

Aren't you the one often asking how the proposed move makes the Hawks better next year?

Does Shaw ay 2C make the Hawks better next year?

Depends on what Vancouver's asking.

As long as it's not a 1st paring D like Seabrook, I'd say definitely.

I'm not even sure what the proposed move is anymore. I was just pointing out the real difference between 52% and 44% on face offs is about two per game, assuming 20 face offs.

Give me an example. And don't give me Marion Gaborik because the Kings are going to have to resign him or he leaves for the highest bidder.

All cap space does is allow a team to pursue expensive free agents in the offseason or to take on a contract that another team wants to dump. And presumably get another asset for doing it.
