Doughty without any question. The guy is just amazing at almost everything that can be done on the ice.
Honorable mentions, in no particular order since they are well behind in my opinion:
Price
Lundqvist
Kopitar
Carter
Subban
Two Habs I know but I watch them the most... Feel like Price was amazing through and through, and Subban matured a lot and fired the Habs up a lot during the season when it was needed and against Boston in the playoffs. Without PK and Price this is an LA/Boston final, period. |

I don't see why you don't think he's on the same level. What part of his game isn't there?
He had a much better year than Quick this year, that's for sure.
Edit: I'm not saying he's a better goalie than Quick overall, Some of the numbers Quick has put up in previous years are incredible. But if you look at this year, Price was noticeably better. Also on another note of "elite" goaltending, Lundqvist was atrocious for the first 2/3 of the season. |

Sure they could have. Their lines were rolling in all series' up until the Rangers series where they ran out of gas. Price is beyond overrated. - Ersberg
If I could select any goalie in the league to play on my hockey team, I would pick Price without a doubt. Not saying there aren't other very talented goalies but he would be my pick. |

Does anyone else think that the Blackhawks and Kings are just on another level than any other teams in the NHL? It's a shame they are in the same conference because with the players each of those teams have I can't help but think we'll be seeing them facing off in the playoffs a lot more in the next few years. |

Doughty, Carter and Toews are all worthy. |

Even I, a Leaf fan can come to the conclusion that Carey Price should PROOOOBABLY be nominated here. Back to back shutouts to win the gold medal, carry the habs on his back to the conference finals, not to mention the fact they had a 100 points this past season. |

ANZE KOPITAR IS THE WINNER. Kopitar, in the last three seasons as a King not only has he helped the team to the Stanley Cup finals twice and WC Finals last season, he has also put up outstanding offensive and defensive statistics. This year he finally got respect being a Selke finalist however he has been a beast on O and D since the beginning of the 2009 season, when he had career numbers for goals and points and was being compared to the likes of Alexander Ovechkin because of his sniper ability when focused on the net. Since then Kopitar has quietly reigned in his sniper skills while honing in on his love for being the offender playing defense. I have watched most of the games since 2009 on television (90%, thank you Center Ice) and cannot understate the ability Kopitar has in every regular season game to quietly alter the opponents top players.
This year Kopitar has shown that not only can he play at the NHL level against the TOP opponents every night (do not forget he has been jumping up on the Kings number 1 line since 2008-2009, making many other players look great offensively doing it), but also that he can lead an entire NATION onto the World's greatest stage, the Olympics, and make an impact. Granted he was not the only player for Slovenia but his mere presence not only made a difference in their Olympic games but also getting them recognized as a viable hockey nation within the National Hockey League.
Too often do we take for granted all the advantages North American players have and while Anze may not come from a traditional hockey heritage in the eyes of most NHL viewers, he certainly does not lack the skill, heart, intellect and absolute determination it takes to become a Stanley Cup Champion.
As a Los Angeles Kings fan since the day I was born (enduring living in Pennsylvania, Idaho, Ohio, and New York throughout my life) I thank the hockey gods for sending us Anze Kopitar and pray every night that other people realize he may just be one of the best players in the entire world. |

Mike Babcock. I know it says player and I know they left the playoffs in the first round but the fact they made it with the amount of injuries they had is a feat on its own. |

This is so blindly ignorant that it deserves to be reposted. It will soon be a few ppl's "location". The Habs didn't rnh out of gas against the rags, their best player was run by a cheap shot and knocked out in the first game. |

Carey Price is a very good goaltender, but I don't think he's on the same level as Lundqvist, Quick, or Rask. - tkecanuck341
You obviously didn't watch him much the last season/Olympics/playoffs. Carey Price is the Montreal Canadiens. |

Drew Doughty is a beast... Plain and Simple - MrBeanTown
I have to agree. I am not an LA fan but Doughty moved from an Elite Dman to simply mind boggling this year. I think Team Canada owes a lot of their Gold to him personally. He was amazing for them. His offense, defense and his physical play all improved this year. Hard to think of anyone else that stood out more. |
