I think Akeson is going to get a shot, but definitely not a guarantee by any means. I agree, he's going to have to produce offensively at a significant rate to make the team.
- MJL

Yeah. I mean he will get a look but will really have to come into camp and play well. I don't think he can afford to have a bad day. NOt saying it is fair but based off the roster as is, only spots available are 3rd line wing and 4th line. So you have guys like Raffl, Bellemore, Rinaldo, Laughton, Akeson, McGinn, Alderson and if they bring in any tryouts fighting for those spots.

I hope he does! I'm not ready to sell him for glue just yet!
- FlyersGrace

What about that sticky prewrap tape stuff that pros put on the butts of their sticks?

I'd sell him off for a box of those in no time.

If they can get a 2nd rd pick for VL I'm opening champagne

This will anger our resident Pen fan to no end

If they can unload him without taking back another bad contract, Hextall should immediately be named GM of the Year for 2014-'15.

So is this idea that Lecavalier has any trade value.
- bradleyc4

It's going to involve eating salary or swapping for another bad contract or the Flyers throwing in their 2nd rounder (if they have any of these!)

I like that new players such as Laughton, Akeson, Bellmare, Alt, Ghostibihere are going to create some competition for roster spots in camp. Flyers really need some lower salary players to complement the roster
- MJL

Agree. WOuld be nice to have a couple EL deals on the roster to help the cap. But also I think it brings a little energy to a team.

The same thing was said about Scott Gomez. He had a Cap hit of over 7M at the time. Not only was he traded, but the Rangers got McDonagh in the deal. Now I'm not expecting much of a return, but I believe he can be traded.
- MJL

I think MTL kind of makes sense. They went to EC Finals so they might think they are clsoe. Also they have no big centers down the middle. I think they have all midgets down the middle so Vinny can bring some size. Also can bring a cannon to the PP to go with Subban. He did score 20 goals with limited PP and top 6 mintues. So you can market he still has skills.

It's not about value. I don't think more than a handful of people believe there's any significant value coming back in a trade. The value is simply moving him.

Have the Flyers talked at all about their plans for a back up to Mase?
Probably one of those things we won't hear a peep about until someone is signed.

I wouldn't mind seeing Laughton, Raffl, Bellemore and Alderson making the roster. I would even be ok with a 4th line of Laughton in the middle of Alderson and Bellemore. I know young but I think all can skate and still be smart in own zone.

Really when you look at Lecavalier's deal, more then half of the deal will be paid out after this upcoming season. He made 6M last year, and will make 6M this year. And after that, there is 10.5M of salary left in the last 3 years. So if the Flyers retain some of that salary in a trade, Lecavalier's deal isn't a big deal. But then caveat and the movement clause comes into play.

Wld value be if you moved vinny to MTL and got back say a 3rd rounder and Budaji? Get your back up and a pick. Seems like Tokarski might be backing up Price

Moving him will involve something painful for the Flyers, how painful it's going to be is the question

Yep, the value for the Flyers would be the added cap space.

Honestly, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Bring back Rayzor if you can get him for 1 mil.

Otherwise, I'm with you- signing a backup for 0.800 mil is so minor you'll only hear about it when it happens.

I think the player will agree to be traded. Staying here playing 4th center can't be what he wants.
How much salary they have to retain will be interesting

Yes, but bargain shopping for a backup can really screw you if/when the starter goes down. 09/10 was a pure anomaly. A good, capable backup like Emery can usually be had fairly cheap, but it's not a non-iussue.

It's never a non issue with the cap restrictions this team puts on itself year after year.

I'd rather have Emery back than anything. That's choice #1 for me.

God bless America, but did I hallucinate someone saying the Flyers could get Max Pacioretty -- who scored 39 goals last season and is nine years younger than Vinny -- for Vinny and a 2nd-rounder?

Because while anything is possible, by all means, pass me some of what Marc Bergevin would be smoking to make that one!

Has there been anything from Emery, about what he is looking for?
I don't imagine he is still holding out hope of being the #1 guy somewhere at this point, but who knows what he is thinking.

I'm hoping to just avoid the pain. I surely don't want to eat salary and I don't want someone else's contract back. I'm ready to trade some guys for picks and get a couple of our prospects in the lineup.

I think he'll agree to be traded also. I don't however think that he will accept a trade to any team. I think there are only certain teams he'll agree to play for.
