Yeah, if nothing else it'll be fun after the draft to see who the Sabres fill out their roster with.

What is there to think about?

None of those players should signifigantly factor into this long term rebuild.

They're all bums by NHL standards.

What's sad is how many of those players I couldn't think of off the top of my head....
I totally tuned this team out early this year.

Larsson will be a regular, Flynn, Kaleta probably, Foligno.

They probably will sign a guy or two

Boyle refuses to sign with Isles

James Mirtle @mirtle

Dan Boyle refuses to sign with Isles because he wants to play for a contender. Leafs high on his list. Hrmmm.

ahhaha what a shock

Looks like Garth Snow is getting desperate. Hes going to be going all out to win now & save his job, & I smell an opportunity.

**Trade Ville Leino to NYI for 4th line heavyweight Justin Johnson (Buffalo agrees to eat a portion of Leino's contract).**

Here's a sample of Johnson turning the lights off on Sabre goon John Scott:

Yeah, I was thinking he wore 27, then I looked at capgeek and saw he has another year.

Why?? It makes 0 sense

Trade for a 33 year old goon who has played 2 games in the NHL?

No sense in having a guy whose job is just to open the doors.

I was on the Scott bandwagon at the time but its clear the NHL is pushing him and those type of players out. Deslauriers will be just fine in the 4th line role and he is a better player.

Sadly, Konopka's career is done as far as the NHL is concerned.

He recently received a 20 game suspension for using a banned substance...

No team in their right mind is gonna sign a 33yrd old, on-the-bubble, enforcer with a 20 game suspension to serve. Those types of players a dime a dozen.

It would make much more sense to give that role to a young & hungry kid, who you won't have to eat 20 games of his contract. Look for Konopka's in the KHL next yr.

Wouldn't you rather get something for Leino, than buy him out for no return?

As little value as Justin Johnson has, he's still tougher than John Scott.. Ill take him vs the Boston Bruins all day.

No one will ever trade for Ville Leino and his contract. Even if we ate half of his salary.

While Leino (and his zero goals) might be the worst contract in the NHL...

Perhaps Garth Snow might actually desperate enough to take a flyer on ol Ville?

He's been banged up, but could potentally find new life with Tavares & Okposo.

i don't think it makes fiscal sense to do that.. depending upon how much you have to pay of ville's contract.

maybe we can trade them something for their 1st this season..

Who in their right mind is even gonna offer a 7th round pick for a guy who makes 4.5mil a year and scored ZERO goals last season?!
Even if we ate half his salary...
Would a team actually be willing to pay Leino 2.25m out of their pocket?
VERY doubtful IMO
I think the only way a team takes a chance on him is if he's bought out & they can sign him for 1year at 1.0mil or less

I get what you're thinking....
But its very doubtful
If Snow is that desperate that he's taking chances on longshots, he can do it with free agents he can likely pay a million or less
D'Agostini comes to mind...
I'm sure there are many other options as well

Well there's the other half of it...

If you could somehow sabotage next yr's NYI campaign, what better way than to sandbag the with an underachiever like Leino?

The beauty of the situation is that nobody wants to play for the NYI, & the Leino reclamation project can be had for a bag of pucks.

Hehe, just trying to think outside the bun here.
