If Hextall is going to mirror his time in LA, he's almost going to put a bigger preimium winning the Calder Cup than the Stanley cup next year. I have a feeling he's going to look at building the Phantoms into a team with a winning Atmosphere to give confidence and growth to Ghost, Hagg, Alt, and Laughton.

One of the things he stated was that Homer already had a good team put together and with it's makeup, the only real changes that could be easily made would be signing Schenn and moving Vinnie to bring in cap space to actually make moves. Barring that, a small move for a more proven bottom 6 guy could be in the cards.

I think we'll see more or less the same Flyers roster next year, and they'll make the playoffs, maybe do some damage. But Hextal's big contribution will be telling the young players that if they think they can play for the big club, they have to conquer the AHL first.

I will agree up to the point of winning the Calder cup. I think the phantoms have to be better than the crap they have been icing the last 4 years. In stilling a winning attitude is a big plus. Having the players that can win is also a plus. Hopefully the phantoms become a team worth watching again. It will only benefit the flyers.

Here's some (likely) cheap( $1.5mm or under) free agent options for the 3rd & 4th lines:

Brian Gibbons, RW, Pittsburgh
Steve Bernier, RW, New Jersey
Chris Thorburn, RW, Winnipeg
Blake Comeau, LW, Columbus
Dominic Moore, C, New York Rangers
Patrick Eaves, RW, Nashville

Think this playoff might have made Moore a few more bucks than 1.5?

I tried to offer a mix. Gibbons is a guy I found really intriguing after watching Pens in playoffs. He's got a load of speed and seemed to have good hockey sense. Bernier & Thorburn are bigger guys who offer some grit. Comeau is a solid all around guy who can slide up and down and Eaves is a smart player who can kill penalties and has playoff experience.

Possibly. I still can't see him getting much more than that. Manny Malhotra is also a UFA.

I'm for a mix of players who accept the role & can contribute a point from time to time.

This bunch isn't exactly Matt Read in terms of third line production, but they can all be counted on to play 8-10 minutes a night without hurting the team.

I've always liked Moore. I'm surprised he's never stuck with one franchise. He seems to have a lot of versatility. Like a poor man's Matt Read

Malhotra be a nice cheap upgrade for Hall. He's faster, a tad more skilled and perhaps even better on faceoffs.

I'm just trying to avoid a 4th line where you have to dress Rinaldo or Rosehill...or both.

Around the house my dogs don't do collars and leashes. Those are so they don't get in trouble away from home.

One dog that never gets in trouble, 4 1/2 yr old golden
One dog that rarely gets in trouble 1 yr old golden
One maniac hell dog that is great until you don't run him for a couple days. Then he breaks out of crates, runs amok in the house, escapes out of the yard because chipmunks and squirrels must be eaten. On the other hand he is such a happy dog that we gave learned to adjust and keep him active. He also learned it's fun to jump into the pool from the deck. It's a nice drop and he can't climb the ladder. Ugh he is the monster dog. 1 year old Drahthaar.

I think that would require a couple of FAs then. This assuming VL is moved for table scraps
