I like that Islanders are just going for it this season. Halak, try and get Boyle, keep the pick to draft or maybe even trade. They are going to do whatever possible to make sure that the 2015 pick to Sabres is not a lottery one

Little backstory: I did magazine work on the NY Islanders last season for the New York Hockey Journal. Got to know a lot of people within the organization and players on the roster. I root for that team so hard now. There are so many great, dedicated people involved. From the roster to the fans, they deserve it.

I like Boychuck. I think Marincin would be good deal. Boston gets younger and cheaper, we get a solid pro.

Not sold on Kane being the answer... maybe if we had Iggy as well to be a sort of mentor, but not sure how he fits the team salary wise and Bruins like players who seem to have their sh!t together, not sure E.K does... A lot of well documented head butting with Noel, but on the same spectrum, Claude is def not Noel... So u never know.

But thats an outsiders view, think he's a heck of a player, thats for sure.

They aren't gonna move Johnny Rocket, defense was too thin last year as it was. any word on where the salary cap is going to?

Exactly. They need to bolster the defense. Chara is human and beginning to trend downward(oh no...riot in the streets, what a Richard for saying that) and I have my doubts about Seidenberg in his 30's over an 82 game season after a knee reconstruction. Trading Boychuck now would be beyond stupid.

Also what is the rush to trade Malcom Subban? If anything the Bruins are still log jammed at center. Why not look into what Spooner, who will most likely never make this team, and a package not including Johnny Boychuck for not Evander Kane can bring back. Like maybe...I don't know another...defenseman?

Marchand has a no trade clause. He's not going to Winnipeg.

Oh and I love this. "oh no...riot in the streets, what a Richard for saying that."

Hilarious.

It's true though. I love Chara, but the last 2 post seasons he's looked human and he needs some more help. Not Barfkowski and Mezaros.

If Claude plays him like a normal top 4 D man as opposed to the super human he once was I think hell be fine. No more pp. Loved him in front but Looch can do that and marchand/koko/spooner or someone like that can play the half wall. I don't wanna see him play more than 22 min until the games really start to matter. Let Seidenberg-Boychuk be the "#1 shutdown pair" during the reg season. They'll do fine and it will keep Chara fresh(ish) for playoffs.

Seids - Boychuk
Chara - Hamilton
Krug - Miller

Keep Mcquaid if possible but something tells me its not gonna happen. Hopefully Miller will continue his drastic improvement and clean up the turnovers.

As far as E Kane... If they can make it work with cap I would love a Marchand+ prospects deal. Sure, EK may have his issues... But wed be trading our own problem child in the process, only our new "headache" has 50g potential and plays a heavy, physical game. That right there is the difference between EK and Seguin. EK will battle in the dirty areas and play the body. We all know how seguin does in those areas....

Kane - Bergeron - Smith
Lucic - Krejci - Iginla
Koko - Soderberg - Eriksson
Paille - ???? - Fraser

(I'm ready to move on from Soup. Not great possession. Barely 50% on draws. No offense, decent PK. Replaceable player and an opportunity to add speed to the lineup. Idk if they can fill it internally (Lindblad/Spooner) or not. They'll probably end up keeping him but I think there are better options out there)

Thats irks me a little with them going down the stretch this year.. who cares about the presidents trophy, they should have rested chara and given the kids more playing time, win or lose, would have been better for the team as a whole, maybe mazaros would have looked more comfortable too. Granted, they shouldnt have won the pres trophy anyway but St. Louis pooped themselves big time.

there arent a lot of 50 goal scorers,.. and B's are a defense first team.

Probably up to 70M. But B's have $4.5M in bonus penalties coming off their cap for next year, so it'll be around the same it was for them this year.

Well, yeah, that's an exaggeration. But do you think the B's would have traded Seguin if he had a mean streak and threw the body in the corners? Cause that's essentially what EK is. He's somewhere between Lucic and Seguin and that could be a lethal player on the B's. I like Iginla but he just doesn't have the ability at this point to rack up points like Horton did when his game was on. The B's gotta replace that offensive weapon. Even the Kings ( the closest team to the Bruins) have Carter and Gaborik and to a lesser extent Toffoli. I love the "Bruin model", but they just need that one electrifying scorer, even if it was a secondary player like a Hagelin, Kreider, Saad, Williams, etc.
