At this point, the Rangers look like the Ryan Callahan led Tampa Bay Lightning.

"At this point" the Rangers need a little heart! Could use the overall play of Callahan.

The good news about the clinic the Kings put on yesterday was that it was over relatively quickly. I even had time to watch this week's episode of 24 on the DVR before I went to bed last night.

The Ryan Callahan/Dustin Brown types are way overvalued. They're easy to like because they "work hard", and they do have a place in this league, but they aren't anywhere near absolutely necessary to win games.

I wouldn't say overvalued. They are key pieces for the leadership and toughness aspect.

But the scoring is far more important.

How about that Jeff Carter guy. You know the guy Philly traded because he couldnt cut it in the playoffs and wasn't a leader.

Jeff Carter isn't in as much of a leadership role as he was in Philly. In fact, it's not even close. The reason Carter has been so successful is the fact that he's being asked to play his game and nothing else. He's benefiting from being on a very deep team, even deeper than the Philadelphia team he was on, which is actually a scary thought.

IMO Brown is a better player and he's what I see Girgensons becoming.

Brown is good as making space for his teammates and getting the attention on himself and off of guys like Kopitar and Carter

IMO next one of Gaborik, Carter, and Doughty to score gets the Conn Smythe

Captain Dustin Brown will be raising his 2nd Cup in 3 years!! Yep, these type of players are overvalued!

It has nothing to do with Quick, Kopitar, Doughty, Gaborik, Richards, Carter, Williams.

All Brown?

I also said they do have a place in this league. The bottom line is the Rangers are a better team for trading away Ryan Callahan.

There's also a reason why Dustin Brown isn't anywhere near the conversation for a Conn Smythe. He plays a role, and he plays it well. Both the stats and the standings show, however, that it isn't completely necessary.

Because heart scores goals??

You need players like Brown and Callahan in the playoffs I will agree, but the need for guys who can score is more than that. Guys like Gaborik, Kopitar, Carter, St. Louis, etc are more important to win games. A team full of Browns and Callahans gets you a lot of 2-1 losses

Agreed. Team with the most goals when the horn sounds wins. Scoring is important .

Now I'm debating starting my trek to Buffalo a day earlier, on the 26th, and possibly going to the arena for the draft viewing....hmmmmm

Yeah putting Brown and Callahan in the same boat doesn't work. Brown is far superior and absolutely the type of role player you need on a cup team.

Too much love story not enough lizard, IMO.

That was just one of the many major flaws. At least give me a ton of moster on monster action...instead as soon as a fight breaks out it immediately cuts to something else. Laughable.

Getting several pitchers of beer and enough wings to sprinkle 40 mgs of lipitor on.

Every year, The Distillery in Rochester has a pretty fun draft party. I've done that the past 2 years but I know there's a few around here.

I'm sure one of you guys can point me in the right direction. Come find me, we can have pitchers.
