I do find it interesting that Palat's already managed to out-shine Coots offensively so quickly... I think most people thought he was being carried by Coots in Drummondville... maybe it was a bit of the other way around.
- Tomahawk

Were they using him in a more offensive role?

I thought the call on Carter was fine. I wish he would have done that a few times with the Flyers.

The call on Justin Williams was ridiculous. Especially, when you consider how great of a skater Nash is. A little bump and he went down as if he'd been shot.

- PhillySportsGuy

I think the bump on Lundqvist was a penalty, but he embellished the hell of it.

I think if Couts were given more of an opportunity, he could pile up some offense.

I would rather believe that the Flyers haven't done Couturier any favors with who he's had to play with -- I think it's fair to say that Couturier looks like a different player when he actually had two NHL wingers to play with.

Man. I still want to punch Peter Laviolette in the junk for playing him with Zac Rinaldo for 14 minutes.

That's pretty much standard operating procedure at this point.

exactly. both should have gone. and the bump was more incidental while going for the puck. it wasn't like he ran him. csp's acting job was atrocious. (frank)ing diver.

No im not willing to support the floridas/phoenix's of the world.
- PhillaBully

They already do support the Florida's and Phoenix's of the world. If they used a real revenue sharing plan, like a luxury tax, they could spend over the cap and have more flexibility.

Glass half full?

Why would they do that? If the small-market teams were on stable footing, what talking-point would they use to demonize the players during the next negotiation?
- Tomahawk

Yup. The circle continues. I knew there was another lockout looming about 15 minutes before the last one ended

2006 was a poop draft in general... you can't really complain about the way it shook out for the Flyers though... that guy from Gatineau turned out ok.

- Tomahawk

What was that guy's name again?

i know they share tv revenues, but not tickets. Im ok with the tv stuff, but i think its unfair that i have to pay a small fortune to go to the games and fans of other teams can essentially goto the game and get a hummer for 15$. i would be ok for a luxury tax though.

Yeah, Brayden Schenn had 7 more goals and 2 more points than Couturier, despite getting a lot more OZ starts, against far inferior QoC, and seeing almost a minute more PP time per game than Couturier.

Not to mention that Couts is one of the leaders in even strength points per 60.

But The commish wants them there and will underwrite those teams till the end of time. Only took 20+ years for the TV deal.

Revenue sharing by the NHL if not from the TV and merchandising is pure Robin Hood politics. Except the poor are millionaires/billionaires/conglomerates toys

We all pay a small fortune to go to games because the Flyers can dictate it. Again, the Flyers are already paying into revenue sharing outside of the TV deal. That's why Snider female doged about the check he had to cut to Nashville during the Weber OS soap opera.

I believe many of their players have some sort of NTC. I think they're going to be forced to let Iginla walk.

Thats part of why I think the Flyers went that route..

I can see Ed now: "Hell, if we are going to be paying for that kid to play in Nashville, mind as well see if we can pay a bit more to have him play for us here"

And what they do in the small markets to get the seat filled percentage requirements for the checks is
lower ticket prices

bump

Yup, Pierre wanted his cake, to be able to eat it and then have some of Mario's cake, too
- Jsaquella

but not without telling us where the cake was baked, by whom, where the baker went to culinary school, and who the baker's cakemates were at the time.

- hammarby31

The baker obviously prepared for culinary school at Shattuck St. Mary's.
