Watching the highlights from game 2 again.

McDonagh is either making a game breaking play, or a boneheaded one. Girardi hasn't been much help either.

Not saying I want Ekblad, but it would be great to have a Drew Doughty caliber defensemen. Hopefully one of ours pans out to be that guy. We have 3 potential studs IMO

It's amazing to me the trend that has come in the playoffs during the past couple of years. Instead of trying to avoid matchups with certain teams top pairs, teams seem to be in favor of going right at them. Chicago did this against Chara as well.

If I'm the Rangers, I would split McDonaugh and Girardi right now. The Kings have found something in both their games, and are exploiting it.

Good news is I could see all of these Eastern conference teams making a push for Ehrhoff.

Car
Det
Fla
Ota
Phi
Pit
Wsh

Throw in a 2nd rd pick with Ehrhoff next year to sweeten the deal see what you can get. Buffalo could be in a good position to deal him now.

- ImThatGuy

How many of those teams would he waive for tho? And what are you picturing they get back - roster player? prospect? Pick(s) next year?

I'd love to stock up on 1sts next year if they could, but I imagine teams are going to try not to deal those unless you're a top tier team (LA, Boston, Chicago, NY, etc) where they figure they're not in the running for the lottery.

Agreed, he made some incredible plays but then on the Kings 3rd goal it was 100% on him

This is what I don't get. If Ehrhoff really wanted to leave, why wouldn't he request a trade? He hasn't as far as we know. You would think somebody would at least pretend to have an inside source saying he requested/demanded one. I know, I know, he made those comments to the Buffalo News a couple of months ago, but that sounded more like a guy who wouldn't be heartbroken over a trade, more than a guy that absolutely wanted one. There's a difference, and there's very little urgency to move him. If a team isn't willing to give up a very, and I mean very good return for him, the Sabres shouldn't move him. I have a feeling if he gets moved at all this season, it will be at the trade deadline.

The obvious fit would be Detroit.

They've been looking for a veteran puck moving d-man since Lidstrom retired, and they've got some nice up-and-coming prospects.

Surely Ehrhoff would waive a NTC to go to Hockey Town, because its a fantastic Original 6 tradition that's looking to reload before Zetterberg & Datsyuk retire. And his relatively modest contract fits the RedWings responsible business model.

Ehrhoff to Det. For Thomas Tatar & a prospect perhaps?

I believe he "didn't want to go out west" from the rumors that were circling around the deadline. Is his NTC the same as Pomminvilles/Millers where he can only list x amount of teams?

TBH, I would like a young roster player + pick in return. Someone who is ready to make the jump now or is already in the NHL. Possibly a cap dump to help sweeten it a bit more.

IE:
Ehrhoff + 2nd in 15
For
NHL Ready Prospect + 1st in 15 + Cap dump

He has both a no movement clause and a limited no trade clause. I have no idea what that means as far as what kind of "list" he is allowed or entitled to provide.

Capgeek says NMC + Modified NTC

I'm on the fence as to what I'd want. I want anything that will help bring Kane to Buffalo.

I want to make sure he doesn't re-sign in Chicago before I start remodeling my chess board just for him.

Btw, I would almost imagine that should it be apparent that he goes to Free Agency next year, Buffalo trades for his rights.

NMC means he couldn't be waived, a limited NTC is built into the contract where they can list a certain number of teams (it varies per contract and Ehrhoff's contract isn't known)

Hawks fans in their threads think announcements for both him and Toews re-signing will happen at some convention the team has in July. I hope not.

GoT shouldn't attempt those large fight sequences. They aren't LOTR. Their strength is character development of which there was very little last night.

Oooohhh, does that work?

I think 19 was moreso saying that so Buffalo has exclusive rights to talk to him early, but that would be kind of sweet.

I'm not so sure he's still on their roster after the TD if he hasn't signed though.

There will be whispers as to whether that will or will not happen before that event. If it's all quiet leading up to it, it most likely will be that it hasn't happened.

I disagree though. All of the character development/story is leading up to fights, so they have to hash them out eventually, and last night was a good example I think.

He is. I believe contract expiration dates are technically 6/30 of a given year. If they traded for him on, say, June 15th, I believe Buffalo would still owe him a paycheck of some sort.

C'mon now. Pretend you were GM in Chicago, of all the talent there...

Who could you possibly place a higher value on retaining than Kane and Towes? That organization revolves around those two.

Neither player is going anywhere, anytime soon.

Oh I agree there is just one issue, I don't see Kane taking a discount to stay there. The way he has been playing and knowing he is one year away from getting a chance to really cash in might stray him from signing.
