I hope you are joking. Calgary would never do this! Gaudreau may be small but he is going to have no problem being a star in the NHL.

If Calgary made an offer to the Sabres like this Buffalo would be all over it.

I'm not sure Gaudreau will be a star. I do think he will have a long NHL career though.

Devine should have been fired with Darcy... Girgensons and Grigerenko don't have high end skating talent but Devine and Darcy drafted them. Odd. I would be happy if buffalo drafted Reinhart or Bennett... Bennett is a high end talent who handles puck at full speed with his head up. Either Reinhart or Bennett... Can't wait for draft day.

Darcy to Phoenix ..

@friedgehnic One other bit of business: Coyotes closing in on a new assistant to Don Maloney. Belief is it will be Darcy Regier.

I dunno, Darcy wasn't a terrible GM, especially for our teams with financial constraints (see: Phoenix). He was just lost at the end and well past his expiration date.

Buffalo has 3 picks in the 2nd rd (one of which is the first overall pick of rd 2)...

Just to sample the room here, would you guys rather see the Sabres try to package those 3 second rounders to get back into the middle of round one?

Or just stand pat with those 2nds and play the odds of the numbers game?

Out of 3 picks (in rd.2), probability suggests at least one will pan out into an NHL player (maybe more), but the likelihood of that player displaying top-end game breaking talent is surely diminished by rd.2. After all... Andrew Peters was 2nd rd pick Blythe Sabres.

Reinhart seems like a safe pick for Buffalo right now, maybe more of a "sure-thing" than Sam Bennett.

He looks superior in offensive skill, and is a true center. I'd hate to take Bennett if he's going to eventually be moved to wing. If the Sabres don't draft a #1 center, they're never gonna find one.

If they can get back to the middle of the first round. I'd like one of Tuch, McKeown, Barbashev, Demko. Hopefulyl we can grab Demko with the 31st but I wouldn't be mad if they traded up a little to grab him.

I'm wondering if Niagara's Brendan Perlini might even still be kickin around out there at #14/15 overall?

Now that we're talking about it, I'm starting to wonder if the 2nd rd might be a good place for the Sabres to target a goalie?

You have the CGY trade part right but missing ing few details.

FLA is shopping their pick for Ekblad but will most likely keep it as we all know.

BUF likes Reinhart most at this moment and no longer feels need to trade down unless they're blown away

EDM wants Draitsail and knows they don't need move for him. It's do they really want Ekblad what will the price be for them? (3rd overall and Gagner or a prospect?)

CGY...no need to really move up or down. They realize there's 4 bigger named prospects but see a lot of promise in the middle of the round as well. BUF has floated the idea around of trading for this pick while also keeping their #2 overall pick. Very possible but who knows what CGY wants back. Bennett is a great player but they aren't exactly bare in forward prospects

If Buffalo jumps up to around 20, you can bet they're probably doing so to take a goalie.

Pitt at 22, Chicago at 27

If they can get ahead of those 2 before they make a move to go earlier, it could be for the top goalie.

They want Demko and will be using the first two second rounded to move up to take him. Problem is no one really can pinpoint where hell land. Almost like fucale and Malcolm subban. Could wait it out but not sure if hell slip that far. NJD always needs a goalie and even Dallas could take a swing for example

Lucic, Marchand and Bergeron were all 2nd rounders, Krejci a 3rd. I mean, I just picked one team here. I could go on and on. They should keep at least one of the second's. By all means, move back into the first if possible, but don't squander all the second's.

Last year alone

Zykov
Erne
Compher
Fucale

All 1st round prospects fallen to the 2nd

Chicago had Saad and Keith who were 2nd rounders. Hjarlmarsson was a 3rd (I think)
