Both ideas don't work because both teams are terrible trading partners with buffalo. Unless you're doing a one for one swap, someone is going to get hosed. Both teams are looking for the same thing that Buffalo is.

Gaudreau and 4th for 2nd is ridiculously bad for CGY and Baertschi + doesn't help us either.

Stewart for lazar is a rip off beyond belief and 2nd overall for Lazar is equally bad.

Brian murray actually wants stewart though. Im thinking trade deadline. If tim murray moves the second, itll be for what he wants or not at all. This is his chance to put his stamp on the franchise. Weve done the undersized college kid thing before. It doesnt work. Murray didnt draft conacher, and he didnt trade for him. He claimed him off of waivers.

Yea we did it with players who have a fraction of the skill level that Gaudreau has.

Edit: Totally misread that (thought you were talking about stewart instead of the 2nd overall pick)

Anyone think Calgary would do this ?
Johnny Gaudreau and 4th overall for 2nd Overall ?
Then sabres go on to select whoever is left from the big 4 (Ekblad, Bennett, Draisatil most likely)

- Pegullaville

No chance. This is a draft where you are perfectly content being in that four spot and letting any of Reinhart, Ekblad, Bennett, Draisitl fall to you. Especially if the sabres want a blue chipper in gaudreau thrown in

Seriously. Did you see any of Gaudreau these last World Championships? Kids a keeper & will be in the Flames lineup next year. Why would we give him up to move up 2 spots. So Bennett or Draisaltl & Gaudreau for Ekblad or Reinhart? I don't think so. We are quite happy with any of the 4 falling to us. Now for your 2nd overall, I've suggested Sven Baertche & Granlund & maybe our 2nd(#34 pick) for it. Both are NHL ready forwards that could be a perfect fit for the Sabres rebuild & both are quite capable of being in your lineup next fall. Otherwise, wasting assets to move up 2 spots when we already have top 4 & much debate over the order of these top 4 is just silly.

That is a fair offer you made

It's not overtime, nor is it game 7. Of course Justin Williams would (frank) that up.

I actually thought the Sabres might be looking at Draisaitl (and maybe a trade down to 4th with Calgary)...

Last year, a lot of people had them looking at a lot of guys, but I had them figured for Ristolainen last year and that's who they chose.

Whoever they get this year, they're getting someone good. I like each of the top 4 players.

I'll be extremely disappointed if Reinhart is on the board and the Sabres pass on him.

I too called the Ristolainen pick about a week before the draft. I thought Nuke couldve been possible because Grigorenko. But considering their prospect pool last year before the draft, they were bare on D. Amazing how a 1st round of Risto/Zads shot their D pool to one of the best in the league.

Haven't posted on here in a while.. Been a bit busy and have tried not to get too into my head about this draft.. As most of you remember I am and have always been a big supporter of Reinhart.. That being said I think the big surprise could come a team trading to number 1 not for Ekblad but for Reinhart.. That team very well could be Vancouver who could really use the center especially if they say goodbye to Kesler.. I like a few others have pointed out also have a strange feeling Murray likes Draisaitl. Just his comments about being pretty confident the player they like the most will be there at 2.. out of Reinhart Ekblad Bennett and Draistaitl the only one I personally could guarentee to be there at 2 would be Draistaitl.. Now if that's who he was talking about or not we wont obviously find out till the draft but just a thought I've been brewing for a few weeks now and just am posting now.

Why are people talking about trading the 2nd overall? There is no way in hell Murray trades his 1st ever draft pick which is 2nd overall away. NO WAY!! We will be with Ekblad or Reinhart in our system next year.

No way. If Ekblad or Reinhart are available at #2 you take one of them. If we were at #3 you could make a case for Draisaitl but at #2 you can't.

There is only 1 real way to rebuild . Slow and patient through the draft . High priced free agents always disappoint.

Too many people looking for the easy way out ! Good organization foundation is a solid amateur scouting department . Hope we have that now . Only time will tell. Then when you are over flowing with Talent others covet you can make wise trades. Not till then !

Too many here want patchwork. They would be cremated 4 and out if they ever made the playoffs.

I hope you are joking. Calgary would never do this! Gaudreau may be small but he is going to have no problem being a star in the NHL.

If Calgary made an offer to the Sabres like this Buffalo would be all over it.
