He should. I doubt he wants to be part of the rebuild that you guys are about to partake
- nonpoint22

He just said this week ,he just bought a house ,his wife is Peggy, and he is not waiving.

That could be a smokescreen though.

Didn't Linden just say he wasn't going to move him?

After he asked him to waive and he said no.

I also doubt Poile still really wants to deal with us after the Weber offer sheet

He might have too. His new coach knows most of our roster.

Does anyone on here actually think we have a shot of unloading any of the following contracts Hartnell, Lecavalier, or Grossmann? In that order I think they are the equivalent to Ryan Howard in baseball, not in terms of dollars but of how there contracts make them unmovable

Poile is in love with Josi like you wouldn't believe... compared him to a young Ryan Suter.

The only guy out of that group that the Flyers could conceivably shake loose is MDZ...

And that would just mean you're trading just to trade, you know?

The reason you probably shouldn't move Schenn now is the reason some of us, Bo a few pages back, have said for a while now: No one really knows what Schenn's true value is, for better or worse.

So of course the Flyers will match a tender of a second-rounder or below. That's a no-brainer.

And they should match an offer sheet if a stronger team's proposal would result in a low first -- because Schenn has probably progressed to the point where you wouldn't move him for a pick, say, lower than...21 or 22? Because then you would just be trading his established production for a player who might not be one bit better, or could be worse or not make it at all.

Like PSG said, it would get trickier if a bad team offer sheeted him at that level, because then you start talking about higher-end talent in a stronger draft...but conversely, if you are a lottery team, why on God's green earth would you offer on Brayden Schenn? You should look to make that pick yourself, or check in on Evander Kane or somebody like that, to me, if you are looking to burn the pick.

This is just not the time, for anyone, to offer sheet Schenn. It makes zero sense, because you aren't going to get him for cheap, and the high-end offers are simply too much for a responsible manager to make.

To me, it's a borderline non-issue -- fun to talk about on a slow day, but really, how realistic is it that someone is gonna offer sheet Schenn at a level the Flyers won't match, at this point in his career?

Lavi probably accepted the job under the condition that Poile gets him some actual forwards in the offseason. We know Weber has been looking for that for a while now as well. I could see Lavi pushing really hard for Hartnell. Not sure if Hartsy would waive his NTC though.

Personally, I would take Del Zotto for Hartnell in a heartbeat.

My feeling is PIT for Brandon Sutter, Despres and a pick.
- Tomahawk

I think Vancouver would want Pouliot instead of Despres. Sutter, Despres and a late first rounder seems a lot like the deal Pitt made for Hossa. A whole lot of nothing.

That's where I am -- you might be able to move Hartnell free and clear. But Grossmann is trickier, and i just don't see how you move Vinny without eating a metric (frank)-ton of salary or taking a bad contract back.

I hope I am wrong, but if i was a GM, i'd make the Flyers pay me to take Vinny

Gomez's contract was unloaded so there's always hope.

Little, perhaps regarding Vinny, but hope.

I think they all could be moved. I think a team like Toronto would have interest in a guy like Vinny and Grossman too. It might take eating some salary on Vinny's contract though.

Vinny could center for Clarkson. TO would really get their money's worth there.

If there wasn't a cloud of health concerns hovering over his head, I think they'd be able to get a top-90 pick or so... maybe better to move him in-season when his health is no longer a question.

Clarkson and Laich and Burrows and Clowe... yeah, there's definitely a market out there for Hartsy, lol.

Hartnell is so much better than those guys too.

In a few years, his deal may not look that bad either.

I'd move his contract out now if possible... better a year too early than a year too late.
