I really don't know if the Canadiens want to give Markov contract security. It's too risky. Will he play as desperately as he did? Not to mention health risk factors...
- EricEngels

All valid points.

Yet, he's still the best option and would likely be the 2nd best D on that team for the next 2years

fixed.

Slice it however you like, but when he's playing significant minutes with our #1 D-man, that makes him #2.

EDIT: And yes...#2 can be viewed as a play on words for "poop".

Yeah, not really sure about that either...Subban - Markov then ? Worked alright at the begining of the year if I remember correctly.

Personally I think 3 years for Markov is a bit too risky but someone will pay for his services regardless. I'm not sold on trading Gorges just yet. Could they do without his leadershp on the back end? Who would step into that role? Markov and Emelin are quality veterans and the silent leaders. Tinordi and Beaulieu are still wet behind the ears while Subban's enthuisiastic nature makes him a very influential player but may not have the leadership qualities of Gorges. If Markov or Gorges goes, they need to replace him with the exact nature of player he is. Otherwise, unless Tinordi and Beaulieu mature in a hurry, we may be looking at a step back for next season.

MB needs to find a partner for PK.

Yeah, it works.

Problem is, it leaves a massive whole on the 2nd pairing.

I love how he plays and MB has to sign him but Weaver is 35 so he is a short term fix. If Rivet was replaced by Gorges, you trade Gorges for a suitable replacement, preferably a right hand shot so Emelin can move back to the left side.

maybe they go for the hit too often and could get caught out of position too often... but you could still try it I guess...

I fixed it to reflect that he should be on the 3rd pairing if on the roster at all...

I agree. Beaulieu looked like a deer in the headlights at times in the playoffs. That isn't going to suddenly go away if he's given 25+ minutes.

Both are very prone to making dumb mistakes...but maybe it's worth a shot.

It'd be like Sacha playing with Waterboy.
