Yes, he'd be a free agent.

Think Bowman's regretting trading his brother Jimmy now.

I think most people are underrating this Rangers team.
I don't love the style they play but it is effective.

- Marc D

They are a very good team. Crazy speed throughout the lineup paired with great team d and the best goalie in the world.

They are female doging about Flyers and Habs fans.

I tried to explain (first mistake) that the fans are female doging because they wanna be in the cup.

Losing teams rationalize.. What if Price was healthy. What if Mason was healthy.

Rangers fans rationalize: "It wouldnt have mattered at all. We are the superior team and had either the Habs or Flyers been in last nights game it would have ended 10-2 Kings.

There is no denying the skill level of the Rags. They are a great team. But you also cant sit there and deny that you were fortunate that you didnt have to face Price, and that Mason wasnt healthy. You capitalized on that. Great teams do that.

As a Flyers fan.. I can help but think what if.

Does Sanheim project as a franchise defenseman in the NHL? No, and he may not be a number two, either. However, assuming that he continues developing and stays healthy, Sanheim has all the tools to become the type of two-way defenseman that moves the puck efficiently, occasionally chips in some timely offense and also provides reliable coverage in his own zone without being outmuscled by the league's big, strong forwards.

I know the value of defensemen is off the charts right now, but is the above worth a first round pick?

I was just trying to find ways to replenish the system and also bring in skill cheap. I think he would be worth the effort and his size and skill is something we could use on the wing. In the games I watched he moed wel for a big kid.

I would have loved to see Mason go all seven. I think Emery cost them one game but he also stole a game for the Flyers. With Price healthy who knows what happens, I can say the Canadians are a better team but to predict the outcome is delusional.

Rangers D, speed, and forward depth is better then the Flyers right now. But they are not that far behind.

Exactly what I was trying to get at.

I even tried to explain that had the Rags lost Lundqvist and not advanced they would be saying the samethings, and rightfully so.

They said they still would have won. No problem.

Yes, in today's game it makes sense at some point if you think he can be a fast-track player to the NHL (i.e., bypassing the AHL as he turns pro). Also, players can surprise as they develop. No one, including myself, ever thought Olli Määttä would have any NHL offensive upside yet he just posted nine goals and 29 points as a rookie.

The thing you have to be really careful about is that he's a 22-yo who could barely put up 5-7 goals per year until he landed on a line w/ Johnny Gaudreau. His brother has turned out to be more of a 4th-line banger than a viable scorer... you wonder if he's even going to be that.

Sanheim's scouting report reads a lot more like Keaton Ellerby/Duncan Seimens/Tyler Cuma than Maatta. Teams that take defensive dmen in the 1st-round typically don't end up too happy with their picks in hindsight.

Fast track indeed. You're thinking Sanheim might be on an NHL roster next season? Is this a common thought among coaches and scouts you're talking to?

edit: Or in the bigs in two seasons when he's 19?

Having not watched him, how does he stack up against teammate Hayden Fleury? I know the point totals are different, but as far as his in-zone play and minutes, does he compare?

I would not be disappointed in the slightest if the Flyers drafted a 6'4" two-way, fleet-footed defenseman with the 17th pick. Sanheim would be a good pick up. My guess is none of the commenters here have actually seen him play (or the player they have their heart set on). So all of our ideas of whether he is worth a 17th pick is based on our faith in the scouting agencies lists. I am sure I will like and trust whoever Hexy picks.

If the Flyers were able to beat NYR, Pitt, and Mtl, they'd still be demolished by this Kings team. The Kings are just too good for them in a 7-game series.

I hear you. But with that size and how he can skate maybe he can still be a solid winger for the 3rd line or maybe a 4th line. Could be an upgrade in skill over Rinaldo.

Bill,

If Chicago doesn't sign Kevin Hayes before Aug 15 is he a free agent? I mentioned before I hope the Flyers check all avenues to get better and bring in youth to build depth

- J35Bacher

I think he saigns in Calgary with his the guys he played with at BC signing there a few months ago.
