It's distilled differently, and for a shorter period of time, but basically it's a clear, lighter variation of traditional rum.

spiced rum people traditionally mix with soda, while clear with fruit stuff. it has a much more distinct flavor to me. im definitely not a connoisseur though

Really not much different...the dark rums are a bit stronger tasting, but it's not a huge difference IMO
