was just a thought...the sabres may have one too many goalies at this point and it wouldn't surprise me if one of them are moved...my guess is either enroth or Hackett...personally, i'd like to keep hackett
- Michael Pachla

i think both hackett and enroth are not in the long term plan. i would keep enroth just because he has more NHL experience and move hackett

I didn't hear any names but they want a D man that can log 22-25 minutes a game.

I don't know.

I'm not a GM.

What I do know, though, is that Edmonton is lacking both a second and third round pick this year.

- Powerslave

Irrelevant. If they really wanted a 2nd and 3rd round pick they could just trade a roster player to make that happen.

It'd be career suicide for Mactavish to trade the 3rd overall pick for significantly worse picks.

If Murray gets another pick in the 1st round this year I would love it to be between 7-10. Hopefully to snag Jake Virtanen. He could be the best player in this draft. Kids an animal. Maybe Ehrhoff and the Blues 1st+. Draft Bennet at 2, send him the juniors. (Hopefully) get McDavid in 2015. (Hopefully) this makes Kane want to come here.

Kane-McDavid-Bennet first line in 15-16 season

- jackoc150

Im all for it. Kane is probably a pipe dream, but virtanen sounds very appealing. Ive seen a few mocks with him going at 6. Might have to sweeten your offer. Problem is, erhoff is probably a much better fit for a team already in the playoffs, if im picking in the top 10, erhoff provides cost certainty, but hes not a kid, and hes not elite.

The Sabres have no business taking Ekblad
- SABRES 89

Putting on stupid cap... but lets say the panthers think they are ready now. would they take ehrhoff + our blues 1st for the 1st overall then we take Ekblad and Renihart

Yeah, I agree that Tim Murray should try to move up in the 10-15 range. I'd be targeting Nik Ehlers...If we could get Sam Bennett and Ehlers, that makes us a much more dynamic offensive team in a couple years. Swing a deal to get Evander Kane from the Peg and we've got some balance. Draft a big forward in the second round who has a high upside but might be a couple years away.

I'd be willing to give up 2 of our second rounders this year, St. Louis' 1st next year..and/or some combination of Ehrhoff, Enroth, Stafford(maybe), Hodgson...I don't know.

It's interesting that we signed Baptiste, because we still had another year to do that...that means Murray thinks he can compete for a roster spot on the Sabres this year.

The ONLY way I would be okay with that is if they had 2 of the first 3 picks. Even then I would want Reinhart and Bennett but I wouldnt be upset with Ekblad and Reinhart

maybe he just wants to give him a few games in the NHL this season (if camp works well) to let him know what he needs to work on for next season..

I meant to say the ONLY way I would be okay drafting Ekblad is if the Sabres had two of the top 3 picks (so they could still get a forward), in your scenario I would be okay with. Also if say Florida took Bennett and then the Sabres traded with Edmonton to get 3

Well, he was coming to the prospects camp in July anyway. Considering he can't play in the AHL, means he has a shot to make the team. It may also be a way of sending a message to guys like Conacher or Foligno, that hey...we got this kid coming up too,so you better get movin'.

prospects camp is a little different then playing real games in the NHL though. either way i will be interested to see where that goes.

It's all mind games if you ask me. He rewards a kid that produced well beyond what he was supposed to albeit in juniors, and light a spark to players here. It also makes it known to the other prospects in the system that if you want your contract you need to earn it.

Allright stripes. Question. What gives with calling tripping and diving on the same play? I understand that both can be legit, but does it really discourage the soccer style embellishment?

Nice job. Thank you for real content/analysis, not just an observation and a poll "What do you think?"

It will be wonderful to have a reason to come back again and read blogs relating to the Sabres.
