I'm taking the approach that I want one of two guys out of this draft, in this order:

1. Reinhart
2. Ekblad

The rest underwhelm me, not by their rankings by this organization or that organization, but by what I'm actually reading in the scouting reports. I know it's different sports, but everything I read about Sam Bennett screams "Aaron Maybin" to me. The pull up thing just adds to it.

He's boom or bust, but so is Ekblad.... Or any top 3 defensemen really. That's what scares me away.

I honestly would rather draft a bust forward, then a Cam Barker.

That's one hell of a save % while letting 3.52 goals in a game............

I mean facing 470+ shots a game should a a record or something.

- dadeadhead

.883 save %

typo

I need to post less and read (reed, reid) more

I'd rather trade the pic for 2 nhl ready top 6 players up front with upside

Personally I wouldnt. I would draft a center at number 2, keep him in minors next season (helping the cause of your team being bad again). Finish with a bottom 3 pick next season and draft high again. After this start to build a team around your 2 young top picks.

I don't know if you're being serious or not but we'd have to give up roughly 2 (frank) tons more to get just couture on his own.

According to a tweet by @JB_HockeyTalk (has insiders and is a good follow on Twitter) he said Bruce Garrioch told him that it was Lazar from OTT for Stewart at the deadline...still interested as well

Per Bruce Garrioch (so take it for what its worth...which really isn't that much)

The sabres were shopping Stewart and asking for Curtis Lazar in return.

(frank)ing late as usual

I seriously doubt he's here next year but I also doubt Murray swings that kind of deal, don't see too many teams wanting to give up one of their top prospects for Stewart.

Could Murray look back to his old job and target Turris? would that help ease some pain should they draft Eliteblad?

What would they have to give up to get Turris?

- stashu

would rather have Lazar

If there's a shred of truth to this, it was Stewart and a big plus (probably more like PLUS!!!!!) for Lazar.

I don't think so. I was thinking something like Minnesota's 2nd or 2nd from Winnipeg...not that big a plus

They wouldn't give up lazar for Stewart and a few 2nds. He's way up there in their prospect chart, guys like him usually get dealt in a package for a really good player or in a 1 for 1 with another equally valued prospect to address depth issues in a different area.

Stewart, Ehrhoff, and a 2nd (maybe even another pick as well) for Lazar and a low end pick (like a 6th).

thats what makes the most sense. something either will have to go incredibly right, or terribly wrong to not do this.

I would think along these lines too which is why I don't get the rumor. Either the sabres are rating stewart way too high and every GM will hang up on him or he's really willing to give up all that for Lazar which is frightening.

He obviously has his sights set on certain players and is willing to pay whatever price to get his guy but there should be a line he's not willing to cross.

Ehrhoff and stewart in separate deals probably do more for this team than together for Lazar.

Lazar is a stud. With Spezza moving and them not having a 1st I doubt he's available

Say Bryan Murray did turn that senile, and Stewart and anything but Myers or a top 5 pick got you Lazar, drafting Ekblad doesn't look so bad no does it?

Well if they are then able to aquire another forward through trade then sure.

Oh and I forgot Fasching and Carrier on our list of prospects.

I really think we are 3 top forwards (I know hard to get) away

IMO we should try and move out of the 2nd round into the last 10 spots in the 1st round and draft either Ho Sang or Demko.
