I mean, yes, there are a lot of positives in a run like that and very often, one player stands out.

Problem is, that particular player, isn't (in my opinion) in the long term plans of the team.

- Pecafan Fan

He's not 25 years old. No reason to think he'd be in their long term plans, based on his recent track record, save these playoffs.

Exactly.

So what is he?
Regular season pansy or Playoff beast?

And if you play L on L and R on R do you suffer through the growing pains of
Tinordi-Subban
Markov-Pateryn
Beaulieu-Weaver

thats alot of kids to work in, but I agree you have to get them in eventually

- braidan

Emelin.

Weaver was good in the playoffs but he's old and getting older.

Gaborik is Vanek.
Iginla is old.
Moulson - maybe.
Callahan isn't scoring 30.

- hscesq

Gaborik will sign in LA and he is obviously more of a playoff performer than Vanek.

De La Rose said that he would have no problem with playing in the AHL this season, and that it is up to him to prove he belongs in the NHL.

He surprised me in the playoffs. And believe me, I think we all see the potential. But Marty is right - he is entering his prime and so now is the time if ever.
- hscesq

I agree, this season is the one where he either is top 6 or 3rd C

He is good....as a 3rd line shutdown center. He will never bring you consistent offensive numbers.

I think he doesn't have the vision and hockey sense to produce constantly over 82 games.

But he's strong along the boards, good on faceoffs and he can retrieve the puck behind the D.

I think he is what we saw. A third liner who can step up in the playoffs where the style of hockey suits him a little more.

I would have no problem with him as a depth signing.

At one point, they will need to give Beaulieu/Tinordi/Pateryn a fair chance and live with their mistakes if they want them to improve at the NHL level.

This year, no doubt. Then again, he only played 19 regular season games, so I suspect he has more legs than most.

Weaver cannot maintain that pace for an 82 game season. He is also very slow. Let the kids play. Bouillon will be resigned.

I'd rather have Weaver than Boullion. Either way, if it's a seventh D, meh.

Still thinks he plays more like a winger, but you lose his faceoff skills and some of his shutfown effectiveness.
