That would be perfect! No one brings more swagger to the team than Naz. Just don't pressure him to be the #1 and he'll have a lengthy career in hog town.

If you are comparing to elite players in the league..show all elite players.

Where is Giroux? Ovechkin?

There are so many top names out there missing from you chart it is not funny.

Typical leaf fan bloating the numbers to make the Leaf player look the best...lol

Flame on.

Yes Phil has done pretty well for "himself"

His team not so much

Leafs will get nowhere with him as their cornerstone

- abolton

First year he was here, I would have agreed with you. Fact is he's grown up a lot since then. Ever since he learned how to score in the playoffs he's been a force, and he even occasionally back-checks now (!)

I guess I'll be the one to point out the truth about Tyler Bozak.

Bozak is a great player.

He tied for the 40th in scoring among NHL centers last year in only 58 GP. The year before he was 40th in a full season. He plays in all situations, has great vision and is a great playmaker.

He absolutely makes his teammates better around him. Both Kessel and JVR had higher production with Bozak up the middle than when he was injured. He makes a lot of the nice setups and he brings the puck up the ice a lot(when the Leafs can get it out of their end).

He's certainly not an elite center. But he's around the bubble to proving he's an acceptable 1st line center. If he can stay healthy next year and achieve similar PPG production he will be a legit 1st line center.(still not ELITE)

He's a fantastic value when you consider that he was signed as a free agent out of college.

He's finished 40th in Center scoring 2consecutive years and that somehow proves he's a top Center (30 teams)? Baffling.

I could name 30 centres that are better and more that are on he cusp of being better. Him being 40th the last 2 years (while playing with elite scorer) proves how he's not a 1st liner.

Can't believe people keep leaving Kopitar out of the NHL elite.

How many cups will he need to win to be considered?

How on earth do people comment on the content of a blog when its clear they didn't read it

"How on earth did you not include giroux or ov. Typical leaf bias"

"No, kopitar?"

I think the idea here is questioning the definition of what is an elite player. According to this blog, it is defined by points.

We've seen over the years how talented Ovechkin is. He scores almost at will.

But looking at his career, do you consider him to be a better player than Toews or Kopitar or even Datsyuk who are both much more complete than Ovechkin?

Edit:
In this day and age, where systems are becoming more and more important in teams success, I guess it could be said that Player X is an Elite Scorer, while player Y is an Elite "player".

What's really impressing with these stats is that Kessel does this with Bozak..
- leafer89

Remember he'd be nothing without Savard.
