but hes described him completely different than what ive seen of him live, and on tv and what i've read. seems to make it sound like hes making plays. as you said, he seems to wait for others to make plays and he feeds off his snapper/one-timer. hes good at getting open and getting that shot off (it is lethal) but is that all he is? - burn
Ya, don't see him making too many plays to be honest. |

Adam,
Whats your take on Virtanen? Will he drop because of the shoulder injury or will a team still take him in top 8 due to skills and assets he brings?
Just saying I would love for him to drop to 17 and to my Flyers. But don't think it happens. |

Drop to 17? Highly, highly unlikely. That would be insane (Though we've seen others drop to be fair)
As for the injury concern, Barkov was technically hurt when drafted and that didn't stop him going up in the rankings (Though no surgery to be fair). Cowen dropped 3 places his draft with that knee injury. Galchenyuk only got to play 7 or so games in his draft year and still went third.
I think people know what they'll get with Virtanen and he'll probably be gone top-10, if not sneak into the top-6 if a certain Burke led team sees their vision of speed/tenacity sitting there. |

This is where losing all those 2nd round picks hurt, you can go for it and take that chance for a possible big reward down the road. - LeafMan
I'm thinking Buffalo did that with Connor Hurley last year... |

Thanks. That's kind of what I was thinking. Was hoping for some luck since the draft is in Philly. I like him and Hayden Fluery for the Flyers but don't think any will be there. |

Ya probably not. Fleury being the second best defender in a draft where it's all forwards pretty much guarantees he's gone before 17.
Who do you think the Flyers need at 17 having drafted Morin? They usually do so well with forwards and after Fleury the gap is pretty major between him and McKeown or Dougherty or Sanheim and the other "top" defenders. |

Bloodlines will get you drafted and it does kind of suck. I might write a bit about MacInnis who had a really bad season and hasn't really been anything special his whole life, but people keep putting him in the late first early second because his dad was a beast. Same with Lemieux and Quenneville, both solid players, but neither brings anything particularly special to be in the first round other than famous families, if they were Jack Smith and Sean Nobody they would probably not even get anywhere close to the same recognition.
I also have a bad feeling Tretiak will get drafted earlier in 2015 because of his grandpa, he certainly hasn't been great for Russia, yet they keep going back to him in these international tourneys (though it is Russia to be honest and aside from Vasilevski they haven't produced too many good goalies lately). - AdamFrench
The son of Mario will never play a game in the NHL. On edit: That's earned. Nepotism however does run long and deep in the NHL...Marty Bs kid would have never been drafted. But he took a spot from someone more deserving because Marty was sitting at the draft table with Devils brass. It was a sickening display of utmost proportions... |

It's ok all the old greats kids are starting to come up now...also Claude's son Brendan is basically him 2.0. It's kind of hilarious. Won't know until the playoffs to see if he has dads mojo, but man he loves the nasty stuff and can play hockey too. |

I would like a winger. That s why I think Virtanen was perfect for Giroux and Voracek. Others I would like:
Nikola Ehlers
Nick Ritchie
Dylan Larkin
Adrian Kempe
Roland Mckeown |

Cool. These guys I wish them the best, but not a big fan of nepotism (like with Marty's son). But if he's 2.0 there will be 30 teams lining up. |

I was thinking similarly. Wonder if having seen the success of Voracek they take the plunge and go for Jakub Vrana, such high reward and one of the best potential goal scorers. |

Isn't he from the same hometown?
I am curious with the draft being said to be weaker this year compared to next year, would anyone trade their first this year for a first next. I was kind of suprised the Islanders gave their first in 2015 and not 2014. I think the Islander could trade thier pick this year for players to help now |

Not sure if he's from the same town, I know that a ton of the Czech or Slovak stars seem to come from Kladno and Trencin for some reason.
I think the draft being weaker is mostly that this draft gets bad quickly, in the second round you're basically grasping at straws unlike last year and in 2012 where all the way through the second round you're getting junior superstars. Especially 2013, man that draft was deep. |

I got you. I am curious to see how Hextall handles the draft. I would love him to build the Flyers like the West. Teams like SJ, Anaheim and the Kings. They are fast and gritty. I don't want a 4th line that only plays 5 minutes like most east teams. I want a 4th line like anaheim and dallas. They are fast, gritty and chip in offense. |
