THats one of the reasons I'd like to see them trade down a bit. I feel like they'll be decent players available 5-10 picks down. They need to recoup some picks for next season. It takes two to tango though.
- PhillySportsGuy

That's the tough part, don't see too many teams willing to give up anything of consequence to move up 5-10 spots to 17

Well, for one, they should have left him in junior, given how little ice time he saw. Second, I don't think he's that great a prospect. He's a big, strong rambunctious kid, but I didn't see anything that made me think of Milan Lucic or somebody of that ilk.

He seems to be more concerned with hitting and fighting than actually improving his overall game.

Yeah, he definitely was going out of his way to hit guys in the games I saw. Way too easy to get him off his game and into being dumb

It's just tough to tell. This is more of a specialized draft. Different teams will love different players. I imagine the draft boards will look very different from team to team. Last year was much easier to predict (until the Flyers surprised us with Morin)

It's almost sure folly to take a kid with that kind of skillset that high in the 1st.

I guess LaCavalier for Phaneuf does not excite anyone from either fan base?

I'm guessing that they saw a future Lucic...I didn't. Who knows maybe in a few years, but I was glad the Flyers didn't take him

Flyers normally go for strong all around players. I don't think Wilson really fit that mold.

Not even MJL thinks he can play wing. That should tell you all you need to know.
- PhillySportsGuy

I think you're missing a lot of points to push your own. I even admittes in my original post that he wasn't good at it but it doesn't mean he won't go back there. He wasn't good at it but he did produce somewhat there. It's not ideal to have Lecavalier at wing at all but..he might have to.

I would do it. Him and Schenn can room together on road games.

Let me make my point clear, so we can move on from the VL topic.

I would rather buy VL out than have him come back to the Flyers. Even if that means eating $2M/year for the next 8 seasons. It would suck and I would much rather look to trade him and eat salary, but that's what I would do if I had to.

I'd have to consider that move, yes. It's not an idea move but Timonen is on the outs.

Coburn-Phaneuf
Timonen-Schenn
Amac-Streit

It's a very expensive defense, but definitely an improvement from what we have. (If we got Phaneuf, Grossmann or Schenn would likely get moved).

True, though Carolina did surprise me a bit with Lindholm at #5. I would have thought they would have either gone D with Nurse or Risto or went with Monahan, but either way they still got a very good player.

Its not ideal, but maybe. Though I think if they are willing to eat 1.5 million of the cap hit they can move him, and I'd rather have 1.5 for only 4 years instead of a buyout.

There's nothing wrong with acknowledging that circumstances have changed.

Being decisive, even if it means making an error, is better than looking at a scenario over and over and then telling yourself that what you saw wasn't true
