Also, if he's "obviously not good at it" then it's not a very good idea to play him there. Unless you think it's fair to try Nicklas Grossmann at Giroux's wing while they're at it.

I can't believe we've gotten back to VL again. This could have been a draft thread.

I'm very interested in hearing about Kempe. I know he's a crash and bang guy, but I want to know about his offensive potential. I wouldn't want a Tom Wilson type.

Dan Cleary was like the magic bullet last summer... no idea how Homer came out unscathed.

We need to draft the next Garrett Klotz. Tons on untapped potential there.

Every time someone mentions VL on this thread, someone, somewhere beats a puppy. Don't know why, but it is what it is.

Now can we get back to the draft and discussing which of our prospects we will rush to the NHL and then rip when they don't immediately dominate the league?

Just loved how some unnamed posters thought the proposed 3-years at $3M would have been a great signing for him. Then he played a game.

He sounds to me like a better-skating Johan Franzen.

Kempe is an interesting kid. Good speed, doesn't shy away from contact...I'd be cool with him at 17. It's really kind of a wild draft. Guys that some have going between 10-15 other guys have in the late twenties.

The fact that Ghost actually took like 3 days to sign after being the best player in the college championship game, coupled with the fact that he's yet to win a Norris Trophy and score 100 goals in a season, means that he's an obvious bust.

I thought he'd be good...then I saw how many steps he had lost. Never an exceptionally fast guy, he was moving like Kjell Samuelsson early in the year.

They got Downie, who is sort of the same kind of player, and until he got hurt he did a good job.

I'm 31, skinny as hell with a starter wing guy, and could likely put up 10 or so if I really tried.

I actually think the Caps use Tom Wilson wrong. He only gets 4th line minutes. They rely on him to fight and then his minutes are limited.

Oh absolutely, If he and Morin aren't our dominant top pair next season, they need to execute the entire scouting department!

THats one of the reasons I'd like to see them trade down a bit. I feel like they'll be decent players available 5-10 picks down. They need to recoup some picks for next season. It takes two to tango though.

Well, for one, they should have left him in junior, given how little ice time he saw. Second, I don't think he's that great a prospect. He's a big, strong rambunctious kid, but I didn't see anything that made me think of Milan Lucic or somebody of that ilk.

I was the skinniest kid in high school until I began lifting weights and I could do at least 8. I really don't see how it's possible for an athletic 18 year old to not get any.

Too bad Detroit is taking him at #15.... btw, how bizarre is it seeing them ahead of us in the draft order?

I'd be OK with that, as well...especially if it means getting into round two next summer
