Is it ok for me to wish for the Panthers to tank again and become the Hawks 2.0 two years from now by adding one or both of these guys lol.

Panthers are too low class to ever have talent walk through their clubhouse/organization/city but one can dream......

i think if pittsburgh wanted to make a deal theyre moving malkin before crosby. crosby and malkin are both franchise players and malkin could net a return that brings in the right supporting cast for crosby to win again.

I see what you're getting at and I agree. I just don't see it happening any time soon, especially with the lack of forward depth.

This is one of the stupidest threads I've ever seen. Patrick Kane isn't going anywhere and the Hawks will be able to sign both to extensions before the season starts, possibly earlier.

You're talking about a 2 million raise per player and that will come at the expense of a guy like Johnny Oduya, who I believe will be moved at the draft. With guys like Handzus, Regin, Brookbank, and Khabibulin coming off the books, that also frees up an additional 4 million. If the cap goes up which we are all believing it will, the Hawks will have enough cap space to make it work.

ya you very rarely see players of that magnitude moved while they are entering or in the middle of their prime, and i could certainly see chicago keeping their core until they retire in 10+ years. it would be pretty cool to see a big trade go down to potentially change the landscape of the league though.

I miss the days of the big trades. Like Lindros or Gretzky. And the DRW GM is not the trading type, and when he is, it blows.

Neal is nothing special. I got a feeling the Pens will trade that $5 million cap hit through 2017-18. That amount ain't so easy to get rid of.

You're absolutely right with the fact that he's nothing special, at least for the Pens. If the new Pens GM is smart, he'll realize a struggling team will overpay for him since he has passed 40 goals before and is still 26.

It won't get you Malkin because he said he won't play for any other NHL team. He said if it's not Pit then it's the KHL.

He might be better than you give him credit for. He knows talent, and knows it well. His behind the bench resume isn't something to shrug off, he might be an adapt GM at knowing who to sign/trade for. His $/term objectivity, though, I don't have a clue.
