Draisaitl - Most say Malkin. I hear more Backes
Bennett - Hopeful comparison is to Jamie Benn or a Corey Perry. Id go with Bryan Little with more skill
Reinhart - Toews. I would say Backstrom but Reinhart plays better defense
Ekblad - Weber on the high end potential but will plays more like Suter

- Beezer33

If these guys reach their top end potential...
I don't think we will be disappointed with whoever we take

Hopefully ppl aren't expecting whoever we take to MacKinnon-like success right away though
Its gonna take a couple years for any of these guys to be difference makers
And we don't currently have the kind of talent that MacKinnon is surrounded by either

I agree with all of them, but I'd say Bennett is more like a Mike Richards/Pavelski hybrid with more skill (more than Richards, at least).

Bennett is 175lbs and can't do a single pull-up...

I don't know who had the idea of comparing him to beasts like 6'3" 215lb Perry or his understudy Jamie Benn, but that's a big-time NEGATIVE.

Even Johnathan Towes is 6'2", 210lbs... He's got over 30lbs on Bennett.

Sam Bennett is a great talent, but his lack of size & strength is really starting to hurt his"grit" factor for me. The strength level he's at right now, will translate positively to the AHL, much less the NHL.

IMO I would rank the top 10 defensemen

1. Weber
2. Doughty
3. Suter
4. Keith
5. Peitrangelo
6. Chara
7. Ekman-Larsson
8. Subban
9. Hedman
10. McDonagh/Karlsson/Seabrook/Kronwall .................and soon to move into the top 10.......Myers

Yup, when Toews was being drafted he was 210lbs, he hasn't added any weight since the combine.

Maybe thats why he will be in the Juniors next year? Just like everyone else from the draft class except Ekblad?

Bennett’s skating is supposed to be off the charts. Murray is making a conscious effort to get bigger and hungrier (if not actually tougher), but we are gonna have a slow team too. Bennett might be a puzzle piece for a more complete roster.

I love what Reinhart could be, but I really think Bennett or Draisaitl will be the pick. For the reasons you described

LoL, dude... Next yr?

Benett is 175 lbs.

Considering how many calories he burns skating every day... Tell me, how long do you suppose it'll take for him to pack on the 40 lbs he'd need to be Correy Perry?

ITS NOT HAPPENING.

I could see Bennett's skating serving as his "edge". His skating has been much more celebrated than Sam Reinhart's...

If he can utilize his speed, he might better resemble Kane.

I`m bored so i'll post this again:

We should do another thing similar to when we had to guess the first Sabre to be traded at the deadline and if we were wrong we had to change our avatar, but this time we have to guess who the Sabres end up drafting with the 2nd overall pick.

well many players, add about 15-20lbs after their first NHL season, due to conditioning and dieting with the team.

I'll have to go with Draisaitl too

I'm far too lazy to keep track it though, maybe Cabin can do it again

We also need a dead line and a time frame for how long you need to keep your avatar changed (maybe 2 weeks again?)

We do have four 1sts over the next 2yrs
Top line LW could be addressed with those picks
Or we may already have that person in our system
Our #1 LW doesn't necessarily need to be a 40goal guy
Brown plays with Kopitar and Gaborik
Dupuis is on a line with Crosby
There's plenty of examples like this throughout the league
Even look at LAs 2nd line with Pearson on it
Its more about rolling 4 productive lines than having ONE line of superstars
That's why Crosby & Malkin are split up
Same with Toews & Kane
Even Messier was split up from Gretzky

- jdfitz77

Gretzky played with Kurri
Messier played with Anderson

4 HHOF guys.

Just saying.

- Herzeleid

IMO he has the biggest bust potential.

For me it is and always has been Reinhart and Ekblad 1-2. Theres a reason some mocks have Bennett going 4th.
