I have said the same thing. Would not surprise me one bit. He's this years Barkov. Plays like him too
- sbroads24

Thing is, part of me wonders if he'll ever sustain a high pace (in terms of goals, points etc) at centre.

I think he can be very good, but can he be great?

On Draisaitl

"He's the best prospect I've seen from this draft class at protecting and handling the puck," Central Scouting's B.J. MacDonald said. "He's very Jaromir Jagr-esque. He protects the puck, makes those button hooks and hits guys coming in late. He'll hold onto that puck until he sees the right play to make. He has a great wrist shot and good snap shot and can surprise a lot of goalies with it."

I think i'd rather have him then Bennett

i have no interest really in either team winning.. i will watch with limited fandom for either team

Maybe a bit off topic by now...

But seriously, wishing for ex-Sabres to win the Cup might best epitomize the WNY loser mentality.

Sad that this is what we've been reduced to around these parts. Not just the Sabres, of course...

Few may remember it, but when I was growing up Buffalo was actually considered a "Football Town". Da Sabes were 2nd fiddle by quite a a margin.

I'm going to toot my own horn here for a bit but I said a while back that after looking at his draft history it seems like Draisaitl maybe much more likely candidate at 2nd overall than we originally thought.
- Sabresfan-365

I'm going on the record here as the guy who first started talking about how much they liked Draisaitl
I'd still take Reinhart,
But I do think Draisaitl is gonna be very good

I'm torn on all 3 forwards. Any one of them I'd be happy with

You can include me there as well. I said before the WJC he would push for the top pick.

They say Draisaitl is soft.

Not that Bennett is exactly some Hercules either, but... just sayin.

Draisaitl actually looks a little like Vanek to me.

I was just reading some stuff on Murray and this caught my attention when looking at his history. I can't really prove who was first and i really don't care that much

Just because he isn't overly physical doesn't mean he's soft. He uses his size well enough to get the job done.

I think that assessment might have been more in regards to "heart" than actual physical "toughness".

The criticism was (more or less) that when the going gets tough, is when Draisatil disappears.

Its kinda that Euro stigma... Its striking to Draisatil like a bad fart.

From the little I saw of him, which was mostly World Juniors, the first word that came to my mind was "headcase".

After tht combine u could see Edmonton passing on Bennett too. Especially after all the troubles they have had trying to bulk RNH up.

Hopefully Reinhart is more Kopitar/Bergeron, and less RNH...

Gotta be Ekblad.

He's the complete package.

Granted exceptional status, he's got the size and maturity to step into the NHL right away, and perhaps the lowest floor of any pick (while still having the ceiling of a Norris Trophy winner).

Bottom line, Ekblad shut down McDavid this year.

He's an elite defensive beast, and he's excellent at the other end as well.

Looks a lot like a Doughty/Petrangelo type, a franchise defenseman.

What holes has anyone found in his game?

If he turns into another Doughty, I'm going to be very, very disappointed that Buffalo didn't pick him.

No i meant using the exceptional status as a basis for picking him, it's often mocked here is what i meant.

It's not totally without reason though, they've been handing that status out like candy the last few years that it's really lost it's value. The title is becoming more of a burden now than anything.

They gave it to Sean Day and when he was taken 4th overall in the ohl draft people had already started labelling him a disappointment. It was originally designed to be a compliment to a players abilities but it's looking more like un necessary pressure on 15 year olds.
