What if we sign Callahan for too much money this summer and blow the Kane opportunity next summer?
- Buffalo-Sabres

Then this conversation is pointless!!!

If they do that, they deserve to finish 2nd last and not get McDavid or Eichel

I wouldn't say the Canadian dollar "plummeted". Its at 1.09 now, that's a few cents better than it had been. Canadian teams all sell out all their seat at higher prices than the US markets so I don't think the 9-10% loss in exchange is that bad for them.
- Buffalo-Sabres

Yes, but the thing is that decrease sounds intentional, and if the powers that be have their way, it's going down even more. They want to increase the value of their exports. The only way that happens is if the Canadian Dollar keeps falling. Now, should an election lead to a dramatic power shift, that could change again, but if things stay the way they are, it sounds like you'll see an even bigger decrease in years to come.

I know I'm Debbie downer, but I don't see it s worth while. Great we have a 10 million dollar winger, who is centering him? Hodgson? Ennis? Some kid we draft who wont be truly NHL ready for 4 years?
- Buffalo-Sabres

Could u imagine Kane on McDavid's wing?
Those two can both fly... And McDavid is a hell of a passer
That would be one hell of a duo

How ? Their economy was the strongest when the Canadian dollar was worth 75 cents US . The film and TV industry in Canada was booming , exports were flying off the shelves and cross border shopping was low . Not to hard to figure out why they are deflating their dollar . The Canadian economy is not based on how it effects NHL salaries.

june 17th, tuesday night, I will be in larkin square food truck to see my friends band play

come on out

- homiedclown

who's playing? what food truck? I love that place. My girl and I stumbled upon it on a bikeride once and saw some cool band (forget the name, but they did some good dead covers). Some good Wednesday shows there are on 7/2 The Ragbirds, and 8/13 Alan Evans' Playonbrother.

I fully expect the Sabres to outbid everybody should Kane hit the market. Unless someone like Craig Patrick or Tim Murray absolutely don't like the guy for one reason or another, it's going to happen. The question becomes what does he want more: the money or the championships? John Jaekel says that the rumor in Chicago is that he wants a quality 2C to play with. The Sabres, at best, by that time, will have 2 question marks that fans feel good about.
- buffalofan19

I don't think he'll leave Chicago
But if he was thinking about Buffalo as an option, I do believe he'd see playing with McDavid or Eichel as a suitable center
The big question would be whether or not he feels we have the team around that to be successful...
He's still gonna want to win

Yeah, if you're not a massive financial power (like the US used to be, or the UK), having such a valuable currency doesn't do as much for you as you would think. Not to get off on too much of a tangent, but China has figured it out. They've gained most if not all of the leverage and kept their currency low (some say artificially and possibly illegally, but I haven't researched that enough to form an opinion).

Signing Callahan would not prevent us from signing Kane...
We have plenty of room
It could make for some tough choices 4-5yrs from now
But teams like Chicago have been dealing with those issues since they won the cup and still figured out a way to be one of the league's best teams

The difference, though, is that those choices, for the most part were brought about organically.

Apparently Kane is still a pain in the behind. Was reading the Blackhawks blog and two different guys confirmed the same story that before the playoffs started there was a couple players at the bar and Kane had too many drinks. Kane kept heckling Sharp about something and sharp told him to stop. Kane didn't stop so Sharp knocked him right between the eyes. Also said that Kane isn't well liked in the dressing room cause everything is about him.

I seriously doubt that, teammate punching another teammate would have gotten a lot more traction. JJ's got decent connections in the organization so he would have had something on it already.

Go on his blog and take a look. JJ said that there's whispers of Sharp having an off ice personality issue and that's what Kane could of been heckling him about.

I'd have Draisatil centring a 2nd line with Ennis and Armia flanking him. Put Hodgson on the other side of Kane and McDavid

Huh?
Them signing Campbell and Hossa directly led to them have to trade Byfuglien & Ladd & then Campbell himself
I don't know what u mean by "organically"

If all that really is true normally I wouldn't want him anywhere near this team but the talent is just too much to ignore.

I'm 50/50 on it but it's easier for me to say no because personally I couldn't give two poops if he's from buffalo or not. I would want him for his talent and it looks like the off ice stuff isn't hurting his on ice game...for now.

I thought about that but I still have faith in Grigorenko being at least a 2C.
