I'll wager he won't be there.

Chicago at 27 most definitely NJ at 30.

Don't be surprised if it's Pittsburgh at 22 of TB at 28 or 29,

Tampa?
I don't see that at all
They just took that highly rated Russian last year didn't they?

Isn't that why they took Drouin though?
It would cost quite a lot to get Kane when they already have a guy for the slot u think he'd fill

- jdfitz77

Drouin is shorter, smaller, and less physical.

Kane is exactly the type of player(on ice) they thought Callahan/Malone would be.

I think people forget, Kane is only going on 23 yrs old. He's head and shoulders above Drouin in a development standpoint.

He plays on the right.

They have the pieces Winnipeg would want/need to facilitate a trade. Picks and prospects.

Not sure any other team has what it would take and have the gumption to actually move them. Stevie Y isn't afraid of moving future pieces to win now. Something he may be in need of to keep his job.

Drouin is only 19
I'll bet he's on Tampa next year
They very well could still go after Kane though

That post u just referred to was me talking about Tampa taking Demko
They just took Vasilevsky (sp) last year
I'd be surprised if they took another goalie so high this year

Free extra late pick.

Also why I mentioned it wouldn't surprise me to see Edmonton jump up from 33 to 28/29 to take him. TB could get 33 plus for that pick and not lose out.

Thinking of possible targets to trade for...

Andre Burakovski
Picked 23rd overall by Washington last year
Played this past season in OHL on same line as McDavid
57gp... 41g-46a-87pts
6'1, 178lbs
It could be nice to reunite them in the NHL...
But even if we miss out on McDavid, he'd prob look nice on Reinhart's wing as well
Wonder what Washington might want for him?
Hodgson?
Could we get them to take Stewart or Stafford? Maybe add a pick?
I'm assuming the Caps wanna get back to the playoffs asap, so maybe their be willing to trade a prospect for immediate help

Problem is Buffalo needs to hit the cap floor. They already are going to have a tough time without moving Hodgson, Hoff, Stewart, and/or Staff. If they move any of said players, equal or more salary needs to come back.

It doesn't necessarily have to be in the same trade though
I'm sure there's plenty of contracts out there that teams would like to dump
I'm not too worried about the cap floor
There are creative ways to get there if we need to

A good majority of those are signed for to long for my liking. RJ Umberger is one I'd like to see here as his deal is only 3 yrs in length.

Just an IMO St Louis's 2015 1st, Buffalo's 2016 1st, and Hodgson to Win for Kane.

Add what's needed to make it work.

I have a gut feeling they are going to go big or go home on Evander Kane.

- dadeadhead

How much more than that do you think it would take to get the good Kane?

I really see him going to Chicago though.

Also wouldn't put it past Chicago to go after Niemi who will be available IMO.

Crawford will be the scapegoat for them IMO and will be moved on the very cheap or bought out.

- dadeadhead

His 6M/year contract kicks in this coming season, I don't see too many teams taking that off their hands

I know that too, but I'm pretty sure their compliance buyouts are gone, so I don't know that they kill their cap that way.

Eat 1-2 mil in a trade?

Trade him to a team that has compliance buyouts left and move assets like draft picks in the deal as compensation. It's been done before.

the length of the dump needs to play into it too... RJ Umberger would be a good pick up.. but what could we get for taking him?

We wouldn't need to give up much to get him IMO.

I'd give up a 2015 4th a 2016 3rd.

That said he does have a NMC which turns into a limited NTC on the 15th. He can list 10 no thank you teams. He has asked to be traded though so he might be willing to come here.

Finally a blogger who writes coherent, well thought out blogs AND gives a crap enough to still mix it up and respond to the other posters.
