Apparently Fitzgerald was interviewed along with Botteril. Something tells me that either of them could be the favorites over Brisebois or MacIver.
A source I have has spoken with Botteril a lot over the past few years and believes he should be a good candidate, if not the shoe in. He does differ from Shero in thinking about many things from what I've been told. Especially about analytics.
Should be interesting. - HopintheCordoba

Soooooometime before the draft would be nice. Let him evaluate the team a good bit. There could be opportunities to make some deals that day. I'd hope we wouldn't be inactive because of the search. We need to get an extra pick or two. Niskanen's rights could help with that. Still very happy with the 2nd(Jarry) for TK's rights last year.

Should be interesting. I'd be fine with him taking over but if it's Brisebois or MacIver that'd be fine. They've both done some fine work in TB and CHI. Fitzgerald worries me a bit more than them. - HopintheCordoba

I know nothing about these guys than their bios online, but I like the fact that Brisbois has worked in different roles for 2 other organizations. I think it will be good to be able to draw on what worked and what didn't for those teams.

Agreed. I'm sick of the Hawks always winning and playing their dumbass goal song. Also, Patrick Kane's mullet. |

Yea they are going to need to give the new guy a few weeks to formulate a game plan for the draft and roster. They've been extremely quiet in this search. |

He also said Neal wanted out. Not saying he's wrong but Neal basically called him a fat liar. Minus the fat part. Brisebois might make some sense. There's a connection to Lemieux through Tampa's ownership. But McGuire is a smokescreen.

I thought you were pleased with his output in the postseason.
Didn't you say if he plays that way from here on out you'd welcome a new contract for him?
That term is a little crazy but I'd be fine with locking him up to a reasonable contract. |

The good news is, that whomever is getting hired has probably spent a decent amount of time researching the players and formulating a game plan.
For guys like Julien Brisebois, that likely consists of going over the Lightning's pro and amateur scouting reports, and for Pierre McGuire, it consists of finding out what bantam team everyone in the Pens organization played for. |

I was, but most of all I was thrilled with his effort level. Then I got to thinking, why wouldn't he play this way all the time; so I came to the conclusion that his enhanced level of effort just angered me more than anything else. |

He played with good players for the first time in 82 games. Id give up too if I was stuck playing with glass and pyatt all season |

As a Penguin fan, it has really been a blessing to watch this team for 30 years. However if you don't think having Lemieux, Jagr, Crosby and Malkin and tons of other all world talent with 3 cups isn't disappointing in the slightest bit then your glass is way over half way full.
I'd trade every Art Ross or Hart for another 1 to 3 cups in a heart beat. I love this team and always will, but the talent we have had has not delivered the way it should. - Sell My Monkey
I think we would all trade the individual trophies for more cups, but that's the point. We have this all world talent at the individual levels and its a team game. If you think that having a couple of great players through the years means it should equate to more cups, then you're watching the wrong sport. The NBA may suit you better.
Sure, it gives you a better chance and I completely agree that its disappointing they couldn't do more. But we have had some great years and got to see some amazing players play for our team. Other teams haven't even had that chance. I guess its a question of would you rather be grateful for what you do have, or bitter about what you don't?

Botterill is a good hire, but Maciver would allow me to do the cheers "Norm!" every time a move is made or a player is called up. |

That excuse doesn't work when the year before he played with Cooke and Kennedy, he was so destructive to their careers they both had to get out of here. |

Well that is untrue. Completely untrue. We couldn't afford Cooke anymore because of poor free agent contracts and players like Kennedy are supposedly easily replaceable when you draft well.
Throw in the lockout, new system, young player being uprooted for the first time, and the loss of Staal weighing in on peoples minds and I think you have a perfect storm to dislike someone.

It's pretty bad when a one armed Beau Bennett and Lee freakin' Stempniak are by far your best linemates of the season. |
